What does it mean when someone says “i love you for adding this song” ?

for context, he asked me to make him a playlist because it’s going on a trip so I made him a playlist and added a couple songs and there was this one song I guess that he really liked that he texted me saying I love you for adding this song with a red heart after but I’m so confused because what does that even mean you know just a little background story he has a girlfriend, but they’re not like very good terms I guess yesterday he was explaining to me that I asked him. How does it feel to be in love with someone he was describing and he had a genuine nice smile when he was talking about her and then he was quiet and I was like what’s wrong and he just said you just made me think because you know how you said that I must really love her. I actually was not thinking about her i gasped He was explaining this person that he loves. He was explaining that it’s not about the sex. It’s about the way they make me feel when I’m with them. They make me smile. Their lips are like really beautiful, and not to be like oh he’s talking about me, but he does look at my lips a lot so I’m genuinely confused. but he could be talking about someone else and i’m just looking at things too deeply

It is just an expression. He means that it was great or awesome that you chose the particular song for the playlist. Don't read anymore into it than that. Plus I see that you mention that he has a girlfriend. I am sure that he was just using it as a figure of speach and not an actual admission of love. Look at it this way... when you first start dating someone you wouldn't say I love you with the meaning of actual love right? So you two aren't even dating and his has a girlfriend which is why I know that it is just an expression that he really likes that particular song and was happy that you chose it. Don't read into it for a deeper meaning.
