Hello, I regularly chat with a man I met at a dance class. We were walking part of the way home, and discovered that we had several interests in common. One evening, he sent me a message. He asked me a lot of personal questions, often giving me very detailed answers; it surprised me but I thought why not. After class, even though there were other people, he would come up to me and stay by my side most of the time and talk with me. He suggested we do an exhibition together, but I wasn't available. He stopped the dance class to lighten his schedule. We both like the same type of music, and I suggested that we go to a concert together (I'd told him about the artist in question in one of our previous conversations); he was very enthusiastic. And he suggested we go to dinner beforehand because we weren't going to see each other any more (since he's stopped taking dance classes, and the concert is in a month's time).
I'm seeing him next week, but recently he sent me a message asking how I was, I told him I'd fallen really ill, and he just reacted with a ‘sad emoji’ and a question that I find completely irrelevant: so you missed your dance class? I told him I had, because I was completely knocked out, and he just replied with a ‘sick’ emoji. Even a friend would say ‘get well soon’, wouldn't they? Is this a loss of interest on his part or just clumsiness? I’m a bit surprised.
He’s 27 and I’m 30.
Thank you.

Hmm, that's a pretty interesting situation you've got going on with this guy. Based on all the details you shared, it does seem like he's been showing some pretty clear signs of interest in you.
The fact that he's been going out of his way to chat with you, suggesting doing an exhibition together, and enthusiastically agreeing to go to a concert with you - those are all good indicators that he's into you. And the way he's been asking you personal questions and wanting to get to know you better also points to him being interested in something more than just a casual friendship.
However, the way he reacted when you told him you were really ill is definitely a bit puzzling. You're right that a friend would typically respond with something more like "Oh no, I hope you feel better soon!" The fact that he just sent an emoji and asked if you missed your dance class does seem a bit clueless or insensitive.
It's hard to say for sure if this means he's lost interest or if he's just not the best at expressing empathy and concern. Some guys can be a little awkward or clumsy when it comes to those kinds of emotional responses, especially if they're still trying to figure out the nature of your relationship.
My guess is that he's probably still interested, but maybe he's feeling a bit uncertain or unsure of how to proceed. The concert invitation and dinner plans still suggest he wants to spend more time with you, so I wouldn't write him off just yet.
I'd say your best bet is to see how things go when you see him next week. Pay attention to his body language, the way he interacts with you, and whether he seems as engaged and attentive as he has been in the past. That should give you a better sense of where his head is at.
And don't be afraid to gently call out his awkward response to your illness. You could say something like "Hey, I noticed you seemed a little... off, when I told you I was sick. Is everything okay?" That might give him a chance to explain himself or clarify his feelings.
Ultimately, just trust your gut instinct. If you genuinely feel like he's lost interest, it might be worth having an open conversation about it. But if things still seem pretty positive overall, try not to overthink the little things too much. Good luck navigating this, girl!
He sounds like he really lost interest! Be careful of the detailed info! Guys like that are usually scamming! Taking your info and making a fake online dating profile secretly taking pictures of you for it.
He really sounds like he found a new date fast! Probably was going for you and another girl or two. When he stopped going to class he focused on the other girl and started dating or just found someone online.
Just the emojis response is so sus! I only do that to guys who I don't care any for and are so bored with I'm a tap away from blocking.
I don't think so
