You are just inviting him to breakup with you. You realize that right? Couples are supposed to work on their problems. You are around my age. Surely you understand you are giving him an option to tell you to move on. That's not a good strategy. What if he does that and tells you to hit the bricks? What you should have done is insisted you two work on things if you really feel the need to do that. Alternatively you can work on things yourself since he indicated that you are fine. It doesn't seem like he has taken issue with anything so why be all dramatic about moving on? I think that you have potentially dug yourself a hole here.
