Why are guys ego so sensitive?

Have a friends with benefits guy that has put me on a path to have sex with other men, very long story on it. Tonight he asked me if any of them were better than him and I told him honestly yes. Than he proceeds to say that I hurt his ego, I mentioned that he has a new friend that he is close to not dating but does do a lot of things with and that she is probably better than me and he says that if she was he wouldn’t tell me due to my ego. Anyway, that lead to him needing time to think ifwe are okay or not as fwbs benefit friends or not.

So my question is should I have lied and cause more problems told the truth like I did and how it cause issues and why ask me in the first place if he didn’t want a truthful answer? Men please tell what I should have done with a question like that and how to get my friends with benefits friend back and keep him?

First of all the idiot should have never asked. We men say women can’t handle the truth when telling women the truth, but then you get idiots like this here. So that’s he problem for asking. No you shouldn’t lie. He asked, you answered. Now if this was a man you were actually in a relationship w then you could maybe lie. But men should know that there’s always someone out there who may be a little better at whatever. So don’t ask unless you’re willing to accept the truth. It happens all the time w women.

Telling him honestly was not a smart decision on your part, even though he is crying over spilled milk and making an issue out of nothing. Would you not be hurt if you asked him "Tell me honestly, do I look fat?" and he said yes to your face? I know that you would. Do not lie to him, because you have already expressed to him that some of them were better than him. Simply tell him what he does that you like when it comes to love.
