Why don't men want to marry these days and prefer being single?

My brother, for example, is 32 years old. He has a business in chiropractics and web design, and he also invests in precious metals. He is extremely successful, and he told my parents that he never wants to marry because there are only disadvantages to having a woman.

I notice that there are a lot of men going the way my brother does: doing trades, opening businesses, growing networks, etc. On LinkedIn, I once saw a post made by an entrepreneur saying something like, "A day without women keeps your migraines away."

Meanwhile, I see women these days complaining about why they cannot find a man or saying things like, "Can someone wife me up?" Another girl on Instagram complained that she is looking for a future husband because she hates having menstrual cramps, and there are only two options to get rid of them: having a man or getting used to it until she gets old.

I suffer from cramps (duh), and I definitely do not want to grow old without a man.

The short answer is Feminism.

The long answer is that Feminism has never been about equality, and has always been a female superiority movement and one that wanted to destroy relationships between men and women. I could give you quotes from Feminist leaders to back this, but I've done it dozens of times before, so I won't bother doing it again.

Feminism has both taught women to want to BE men, at the same time it has taught women to intentionally withhold from men any and all benefits that men used to receive when being in a committed relationship with a woman, and in return for the hard work and sacrifices he had to make to do so. Women are taught not to cook, not to clean, not to make him a sandwich, and essentially not to respect him or appreciate anything he does for her. All of the things the man does are OWED to her - she's ENTITLED to his money, his labor, his attention, and his sacrifices - meanwhile, she owes him NOTHING.

Feminists further pushed through laws that put men at every disadvantage legally if they got married. All responsibility is placed on the man, both in marriage and in the vast majority of divorces. Women are incentivized with cash and prizes to divorce, falsely accuse him of abuse, get full custody of any children, and to financially rape the man and keep him away from his children. You KNOW this is true because you've seen it happen with your own eyes an endless number of times.

Women today aren't willing to marry at a young age (when they are most valuable as wives to men), or have children during their peak fertility window. Instead, they focus on their education and their career, or if not that, then partying and having fun, during their primary fertility window, and only looking to "settle down" in her 30s, usually after sleeping with a bunch of men. In other words, they only want to get married after they've spent or squandered the majority of their value to a man - and yet, their expectations from men are insanely high at the same time the value they have to offer a man is extremely low. And you wonder why men are no longer interested?

I realize that Feminism has infected society at all levels, and that most women don't even realize that the values they've learned from their Feminist mothers and grandmothers, as well as the female-dominated education system, are Feminist values, but they are. The expectation to go to college, to prioritize a career over a relationship, to delay or avoid having children so you can advance your career, etc. All that is straight out of the Feminist playbook.

Men already have to have a career to even be considered, and they already have to sacrifice most of their life to earn for a family, but now they're not even given any respect for this sacrifice. Instead, they're now ALSO competing against women in addition to other men, are STILL expected to pay for everything and to out-earn the woman, while the woman is taught that men are just looking to oppress her. Why wouldn't men embrace that?

Answer this: what does a man get out of marriage in 2025? What value does marriage bring him to offset the massive amount of risk, liability, and expectations he has to accept to be married?

Most women have no answers to this question, which should tell you everything you need to know.

Its just frightening , and as an older guy who has been though a divorce that put me back literally years , my advice to a guy like your brother ( and similar ) is literally " stick to your guns " " Be selfish " , just forge your own life , and if you ever do date someone ask her " What do you bring to the table " , if you HAVE to get married , do so with a water tight prenup with offspring in mind , you simply cannot take the risk these days , especially if you have built something.

Nowadays things are different & nowadays if a guy says I Do hopefully he is smart enough to sign a prenup & have a good divorce lawyer on retainer because down the road he will lose half or all of his shit during the divorce.

Nowadays there is no insensitive to get married & if truth be told I think the bond is stronger if two people are in a relationship without marriage.

As for being single I enjoy it. I have my independence, I have my freedom, I can do whatever I want, when I want & I don’t have to answer to anyone or check in with anyone as well. A lot of guys don't want to get married because of the risk of losing everything in divorce. They're fine to date but they'll never put pen to paper because of the risk. Frankly I have nothing to steal, and I still will never get married for multiple reasons even if I did try dating again. Successful guys see marriage as more of a threat then a bond these days because woman have turned it into a way to legalize theft. Half of all marriages end in divorce and woman are the ones who initiate a divorce over 70% of the time. When you look at it this way it's self-preservation.

The second reason woman are single and complaining (I've seen this demographic they're mostly just femcels making fun of incels which is hilarious.) is most of them have unrealistic standards. There are very few men in the position of your brother right now. Even people with decent jobs normally aren't making his kind of money a lot of the time. Every woman from 1's to 10's want a successful man as a partner but the thing is there are so few of them they don't have to settle for anything less than an 8 or a nine. (This looks and personality by the way it's not just about her being hot when I say 1-10) Those men can be picky but if you're a woman that's a six or down, you need to choose between lowering your standards or being single cause those are your options and most refuse too.

Womans standards for dating are unrealistic because they're too high for them to even be possible for the majority of men. Trust me I'd be perfectly happy to get into a committed relationship and be life partners but I'm a 5 at best (3 right now probably if I finish losing this extra weight, I'd be willing to call myself a 5 in looks)

At the end of the day woman are unwilling to lower their standards enough to date men on their level so they're stuck being single because the men they want are frankly too good for them. Women say what they want is love and some of them are telling the truth but most woman really want security and want a guy with good looks a bunch of money and a promising future. Love is part of what they want but love on its own isn't enough and frankly I don't even think most woman see it as the most important part of the relationship.

There are tons of loving and devoted guys who get cheated on by someone better than them in some way and then they get traded up for and half to foot the bill for the divorce and sometimes child support alimony or both. If you're this successful you likely have common sense so why would you put up with any of this if you're aware of what's going on?

Are some people just sexist and hate the opposite sex? Absolutely some people are like that but that’s not always the truth. Some people have no negative feelings for the opposite sex just maybe they aren’t interested now, maybe they got hurt, maybe they aren’t in a place where they are ready, maybe a mixture of things, etc.

It is a case by case basis but I personally feel it’s better to be single then with someone who you’re miserable with. A lot of people (both sexes are guilty) of being too desperate for being in a relationship that they will settle for anything. Including being treated like absolute shit until they finally realize that they are by far more at peace being single.

Men who are successful need to be EXTREMELY careful as well at picking someone. They may get a quantity amount of attention but that doesn’t always equate to quality. The same goes for women. Some people will take while contributing nothing of value to your life but only negativity.

People who are complaining all the time or on the other extreme overly bragging about being single. They are single for a reason the truth is that they have too high of standards. The kind of men those particular women want aren’t they men choosing them. They feel it’s okay to feel entitled to someone else but nobody should feel entitled to them. But those women really have nothing of value to contribute and those men are looking for someone who enriches their lives. Throughout history women have been kept safe and secure from the risks and challenges of the world and been given status because of their ability to birth children and were thus protected by the "patriarchy" that oddly enough spent men's lives and bodies to sustain itself (go figure male privilege at the heart). So the success has gone to their head and the laws of the past to sustain women who lost men or had men leave them with children to support has been slow to catch up so there is a flux of changes in society that has harmed men. Holding them accountable for the wandering natures of some women when they cuckhold and cheat because they are able to access more men around them in workplaces. The media has also had an impact on women as it's told them they are brilliant (parents and education systems have also done this), to not settle, be yourself you're perfect, that the right man will change for them into what they want him to be (this changes like the weather) and that they can always upgrade because now THEY have the power.

So it has come to pass that men now see the benefits of bringing a woman and family into their lives is not really worth it. A few reasons but you can sum it up as, women right now are not and do not want to be traditional wives while fully expecting men to fulfill traditional husband roles.

Men see zero benefit in being married. Besides general companionship which can be found with in friend groups, there is huge risk and no benefit.

We analyze and look at the cost benefit ratio and it just doesn't add up. Before men married to have someone to share their lives, be homemakers, and raise families. Now we are expected to work 40+ hours a week or more, not even guaranteed the spouse will help pay bills, still be expected to help with kids, and household chores at least 50/50 but yet also cover home, auto maintenance, yard maintenance etc at 100%.

Then if the spouse suddenly decides she's unhappy, she leaves with half his retirement, even if he has it, a third of his income basically per child, his house and it's equity, any other assets she chooses to take and often doesn't even get regular visits with his own children. And it ends in a ruined financial situation he has to deal with for years after.

I made my money, retired early and even protected my assets by using trusts meaning in a divorce, legally the money can't be touched, even now I am dead set against any marriage or long term commitment for that matter as you stated, I love my peaceful, drama free life.

There is some truth to the fact that living with a person is work not fun. Relationships are a process not a soul mate. Divorced 8 years married for 20, I've been with my current girlfriend for 4 years. She's divorced as well. I cannot see myself with anyone else. Divorce is a disaster. A marriage license didn't stop my ex from lying and or cheating on me. I am well off professional. She is a health professional as well with a good career. What I got from being a loving faithful provider. Cheated on, still got half of my money was taken. Put off my retirement by a decade. At least I got to be the primary custody for my children.. I knew her well we were friends for years before we started dating, lived together for 4 years before getting married. I found a girl who also said she wants to be a mum but also wants more than an average guy. She said I can't see my female friends loving their children and me not.

I don't think thats a case. its just that the few men who don't want to marry are nearly all thats left for most of the women who aren't married yet but are in that age group.

Most people find their lifelong love in highschool and marry that person in their early 20s, at least in the united states anyway. Mainly because its the only time in your post puberty life where a ton of people your age are nearby every weekday.

I'm still single in my late 30s, but thats because I'm very picky, so even with a guy like me, who does want a wife, and is still available at this age, most women simply aren't going to suffice for me, and the few that do who aren't taken already, are only not taken because they are shut-ins, so meeting them is proving difficult.

This is a first come first serve problem, and an isolation problem.

I genuinely have no idea how to even find a wife, and I'm sure my perfect match has no clue how to find me either. This creates a shortage illusion more drastic than it actually is.

People will cite things like feminism and the legal system as the reason why, but that point of view is a symptom of a bigger problem.

Most single adult men in their 30s aren't picking a woman who actually loves them.
And most single adult women in their 30s aren't willing to love a guy for who he is, rather than what he does for her.

I sympathize with you because your age is a difficult one especially for a woman.

I think the difference is the biological clock that women have. When I was your age it was all about my career and how I was going to support myself and a possible future family. But for the girls I dated it was all about finding a man and having a family. So this is NOT something new. In fact I think it has probably been this way as long as the human race existed.

Women are programmed to get on with it when it comes to finding a mate and having kids. By the time they hit 30, their time to be able to do that becomes very limited. So they are under extreme stress in their 20s to find a guy ASAP.

Men, on the other hand, as long as they are healthy, can have a child at pretty much any age.

So girls and guys have different time frames based on differences in their biological clocks. Men are programmed by nature to be good providers and protectors for a family and women are programmed by nature to focus on bearing and nurturing children while they are still young enough to do it. This has not changed in my lifetime and probably never will because it is based on physical differences not just societal trends or current fads.

I remember the girls I dated at your age having the same complaint that I was too focused on my career and not enough on having a family with them. That's just part of the human male/female relationship dynamic.

Most men do. The rate of never married men who want to get married is almost identical to the rate of never married women who want to get married.

There definitely is a subculture of fairly high achieving men who very publicly don't want to get married, but they tend to be pretty uncommon in reality. I think a lot of it has to do with the women in their social circles.

Men who are used to feminine, submissive women who respect men tend to be pretty amenable to marriage. Men who have been successfully beaten down by overbearing women in their lives are often also amenable to marriage. Men who have been extensively exposed to overbearing women without having been beaten down by them, though?
Those are the ones who don't want to marry.

Personally, I grew up in a pretty peaceful subculture where the gender wars never got above a simmer, and I always wanted to get married growing up. I spent a few years in the much more misandrous broader culture that was around me, and no longer wanted to. Then I moved to another region where the gender wars once again basically never happened, and lo and behold, I'm married to a delightful woman.

I see the objections many men have to marriage, and while I recognize the truth in a lot of them, I just don't -connect- with the sentiment. I've only seen a couple of cases of really bad divorces favoring women in my life. But I've seen countless dozens of happy marriages. And frankly, women have always treated me better than most men say women treat men, so I don't know how much to trust about other men's opinions on women writ large.

Everyone in my family is married except for me. But I’m the youngest and the rest are 40 late 30s. They all found thier partner fast and thier first girlfriend became their wife so they easily got marriage.

Given the length of our relationship my girl and I have discussed formalizing our relationship with marriage but considered that it serves little purpose. We have legalized aspects of our lives in terms of finances and property should we ever decide to separate and otherwise have a supportive and loving union in every other way possible.

They know the laws and family courts are extremely biased in favor of women. That the divorce rate is very high because women initiate 80% of divorces. A lot of women, maybe even most women, create tons of expense, chaos, drama and problems in our lives; and they contribute very little in return for the inconvenience they create. I am at peace right now as a single man. In order for me to want to be romantically entangled with a woman, she would have bring more peace and stability to my life. I'm going to explain this easy. You sign a contract with someone else. Usualy in the world of business the one who breaks the contract pays the consequences. But in the world of Marriage, the woman can break the contract and walk away with everything even if she was 100% at fault.

And its like playing Russian Roulet with a revolver, but unlike just one bullet you got 80% of it filled which means 4 out of 5 are in a chamber.

You understand why now? There are basicaly no benefits to marriage for men now. Sex? Just use Tinder.
Cooking? Either do it yourself or order something.

Children? Most women nowadays don't want them.

There is nothing in it for men anymore. Men used to get commitment, we used to get women without a past. We used get loyalty we used to get support and a lifetime partner. To make things worse the laws that were in place to protect women are still there but now they actively work AGAINST the man. You strip away all this, and what is left? Sex? Well, you can get that without much effort. Hell there are a lot of women today that would rather have the hookup.

So it's not that men don't want marriage. It's that what is being offered is simply not worth it. Sorry.

Imagine in ten years you discover the person who vowed to you has been cheating and is carrying someone else's child, or someone else is carrying his child. 1) Massage - $100 2) Manicure - $40 3) Haircut - $20 4) Someone to talk to - $100 5) Sex - $200 - $600, depending. Combine that with the fact that casual sex is now the norm, no marriage required, and you have a recipe for men turning their backs on marriage and running the other way.
