The exporter / seller pays nothing when a tariff is imposed. The importer buying the foreign sourced goods pays the tariff / tax. The importer then raises the price of the item to pass the tax on to consumers. The consumer is standing at the end of the line. They have no one to pass the cost increase on to.

So the funny thing many people don't realize is that the EU is a tariff-free zone between member states. That's kind of the main purpose of the EU. It works because there are also regulations on consumer goods. If you take one part of it away, the system would collapse.
If you choose to buy a product from outside the EU, which does happen regularly, you choose that product for a reason, knowing you will pay tariffs. Most of the time, for most products, a better quality item is available inside the EU, though.
Also trumps tarrifs are not reciprocal, they are not based on other tarrifs but on trade deficit, which makes the whole concept shaky. Reciprocal tarrifs do make sense to an extend if you have the product, available in your inner country traderoom.

Not only are tRumps tariffs not reciprocal and based on a virtually unrelated trade imbalance, they are intended as punitive measures and a bullying tactic to force economic concession from enemies and allies alike. And they are being levied broadly across the entire economy, not targeted at any specific unfair trade practice. It is economic insanity from a mentally ill moron and criminal.

The reason Europeans don't go into a panic is that their leaders are not morons like our Orange man-baby. They understand what a tariff is and how it can be used. They use tariffs sparingly in targeted cases to either, 1.) Address a weakness in a domestic industry and give it an artificial price boost to allow it time to fix itself. They do this because the industry is considered strategic for that country. 2.) They use the tariff as a punitive measure against a nation that believed to be "dumping" product into their economy below cost in an attempt to damage domestic production so they can eliminate competition. That's it, those are the only times a tariff is a valid tool. Not frequently used and used only to address specific situations. The overall impact on any European country at any moment in time is negligible. The price inflation isn't really much to the average person.

The Orange Savior of the Trump Trash on the other hand has used tariffs against almost every trading partner of the US in every sector of the economy simultaneously as a bullying tactic. The impact is being felt by every sector of that economy all at once. And it has provoked a punitive response from all of our trading partners at once. Every American company and consumer is going to feel massive inflation very quickly. The US stock markets and debt markets are plummeting. A recession has been triggered in the US economy. And the billionaire class is waiting on the sidelines to buy it all up at 50 cents on the dollar.

Can the Trump Trash not understand the difference between a selective judicious use of a few tariffs in different sectors of an economy to address real imbalances and unfair trade prices and the wholesale use of tariffs as a weapon to bully every trading partner across every sector of our economy simultaneously? Damn these people are stoooopid!
