Hard to say when I was 23 I dated a woman with 2 kids who was thirty. I couldn't handle instant family and backed away. However later in life after marrying, when I divorced I dated women of all ages without concerns if they had kids. Because I had a kid and it really was not an issue.

Simple the situation would be just be too complicated. If the man is young and single and going for a older woman with 2 young kids means the situation will be tough to handle, he might have to make lot of compromises for the woman which might be good in the long run.
