He's in denial. Most likely because you've been treating him as a friend the same way you treat your girlfriends. Like an emotional tampon. Men don't do well with this because we aren't women who's brains are wired fake this. We are different and it can be exhausting to some men to give give give emotionally and never receive what they want in return. I could be way off base with the type of relationship you two have. AND yes before everyone comes at me, men and women can be friends but it is the exception not the norm. Usually, one them developes a case of the feels.
