Why did they name the eating utensil a fork?

Is it cause the person that designed it accidentally stabbed himself with it and went like FOOOOOOCK! then he went like "fork 😯👉🏼" and that's when he cut off the sharp points and it's now the fork we all know and love with flattened dull edges 😂

The language root is ancient and refers to a 'forked' tool.

Back then the giving of names followed spontaneous phonetical instincts.

For similar reasons we also now have Bah Nah Nah, Kangarooh and such
