Why would a male coworker avoid having meetings with you?

A male coworker and I were attracted to each other for a while, but he’s since got a new girlfriend.

He now avoids attending any meetings with me or reschedules them even if other coworkers are there. It’s got quite obvious that he’s doing it, why would a guy do that?

Could be a few reasons. One he still likes you so to avoid temptation he tries to see you as least as possible. Two he’s one of those one woman man that just cuts off all other women regardless of the situation. I’ve seen some men who just stopped talking to their female friends or at work unless it was absolutely necessary for him to talk to them about work. Three he just wants to avoid a scene. Chances are you like many women will want an answer, or closure as they say as to why he did what he did. Four, maybe the other girl knows you and has told him some stuff about you.

Yeah I’m thanks for this. I wonder if it could be 1 because he's done it a few times, and once he rescheduled a meeting at 9:30pm at night saying last time I promise, which didn’t seem so professional to me. Do you think I should raise it with him or it would make him uncomfortable? He does it with another meeting I go to as well.

I’d just let it go. What are you hoping to get out of this? A friendship? It’s not worth your time. I’d just move on. Almost guarantee if his new relationship doesn’t workout he’s going to hit you back up.

Yeah I know what you mean, just frustrating when someone avoids you. What? You think he would do that why?

Because a lot of men tend to do that. Especially if he likes you. But if I was you I’d just skip out on all of this together. Because if you think about it if he comes back that means you’re second best. Why be second best? Should t you be first best, not runner-up?

Yeah I see what you mean, so skip out because he’s showing that I’m second best? It’s just annoying because we have to work together and his sudden avoidance it quite obvious now.

Yes. Why would you want to be runner-up. Like ok the only reason why I won this “race” is cause she dumped you. You should be first in a man’s eyes in my opinion. I don’t mean that in a conceded way either the way some women tend to act.

He probably wants to focus on his current relationship, and he might view you as a distraction from that.

Yeah ok that makes sense, but isn’t it a bit ridiculous that he can’t attend meetings because of me? I mean can’t we be civil

Yeah. It a bit of an overkill, but it might just be temporary.
