You ever feel bad about rejecting someone but you didn't have any choice?

Super cute guy at my college showed up 20 minutes late. He apologized and said it won't happen again. But also, he said one of those lines that made me he's not that sorry after all. He was like, "if there's another emergency maybe i can text you... like on Instagram... maybe?"

And I'm like, "nope, I don't do social media."

I feel bad because,

1) I do have social media. I just don't want to get close to him like at all

2) on social media, I have a smart side and a flirty side. He's not smart enough for the first one, and I don't want him to feel stupid about himself or something because self esteem matters, AND I CAN'T FLIRT WITH HIM BECAUSE HE'S MY FIRST YEAR STUDENT AND I'M A FRIGGIN PROFESSOR

Maybe next year, when I'll be working elsewhere, but I can't like anyone for that long. And it sucks so much!

I know he tries so hard at the subject of English, and maybe he just wanted us to be good friends, BUT I DON'T HAVE A SINGLE MALE FRIEND I DON'T FLIRT WITH. So of course I gave him a cold shoulder, even later when he offered to a ride to the main building because the language lab was so faraway AND I HAD TO FRIGGIN WALK... so that's what happened.
