He told me someone asked if we were a couple, why?

Long story short I asked a coworker to do a presentation for me at church. He did, everyone really liked it. I was walking him to his car and he brings up a comment made to him. He says “Someone asked me if I’m ‘your doctor’ ” I was a bit confused at first because I thought they were asking if he’d treated me as a patient. (Which was wrong because I introduced him as a coworker) And I looked at him confused and said “Huh, what do you mean?” He says it again and it clicked for me 😂 that someone asked if we were dating or a couple. But it made me wonder, why tell me that? Could have been gauging my reaction?

There is a good chance he was gauging your reaction by telling you that.

My reaction which for me is usually slow was confusion 😂 but I ended up getting it and asking him who asked him that. I should have asked him what he said to them though.

I've been turning this over in my head for a few minutes and I can't seem to understand where you got the impression he meant couple?

I was turning my head too until he re-emphasized the the “your doctor” comment. I actually thought they were asking if I was his patient at some point in time. But after he said it again and then said to me “you know what I mean” it clicked.
