What's it mean when the same guy is called 'weird' by every gal but 'a great guy' by every guy?

I've been dealing with a difficult sort of guy. in my opinion he has his moments, however in general he's a skatty sort of personality and best addressed from a safe distance.

Recently a bunch of women (ages 30-85) have been coming up to be to tell me their thoughts about him. For different reasons each of them thinks he's odd. Literally not one woman in our mutual circle likes him. (Consensus is "there's something about him... he's weird... stay away from him" and it stops at that.) But every guy who meets him (ages 25-75) agrees and tells me what a great guy he is. (Consensus is "he's a really good guy... too bad it never works out with the girls... I've been trying to help him meet someone nice..." and then a knowing look my way.)

My "spidey sense" says ignore everyone and also just stay away from the guy bc he seems like some kind of player. I know why our mutual acquaintances have been approaching me about him, though; he's been overly charismatic towards me and politely conservative around other women for the past few months.

What do y'all think? Personally I think it's odd that the opinion of the guy are so completely different and divided...

There are many weird things that guys are okay with that would cause a woman to head for the hills. Guys like other guys that are into cars and sports. It is okay if they have bd table manners or are highly functioning alcoholics. Women have an entirely different system of values.

Hmm... Maybe that's it. Personally, as far as guys go he seems ok, but that's bc I work with so many more men than women in general. He doesn't strike me as creepy or anything like that, however his manners... OOOF.

Just addressing the main question... a guy that's called weird by a lot of ladies but a good guy by all the guys usually means he's socially awkward and doesn't know what to say in some scenarios, but probably a genuine guy with genuine intentions.

Not at all! The most recent bunch of guys are all married with kids and VERY happy.

They're not really "friends" but people I introduced the guy to at the start of the summer so he could start frequenting a better circle than he was. But right off the bat these fellows I've known for forever are telling me how great he is but their wives are all thinking 🤮🤮🤮

Meh. I don't get any sort of "player" vibe from him. He doesn't seem like the sort who has any game with the ladies. If he sees me he lights up from way down the street and spends the whole day chatting me up like a kid in grade school who's found his buddy. Even if there are a ton of ridiculously hot babes around he doesn't even glance. (To the point that for a while I considered perhaps he's gay.) He's fun to be around, in my opinion, but I think he has no direction and is PAINFULLY awkward around girls.

From what I gather he's introduced to a gal and just kind of brushes her off. But women in our circle find him very rude, etc. I always call him out on any rude shit he does, and we still chat occasionally, but this schism between the male and female opinion of him worries me, particularly now that we're apparently going to be in the same social circles more and more.
