Why do men always come back once you prove to be doing alright without them?

over the course of the past few months, i’ve slept with two guys. and i really liked them both. we’ll call one P and the other T.

with P i really liked him at first, but he didn’t seem to want things as serious as i did. he was fucking other people we work with and it got too messy for me. i blocked him on everything so i couldn’t reach out in a moment of desperation, or so i wouldn’t be reminded of his existence outside of work.

a few weeks later i unblocked him and he reached out instantly saying “what do i have to do for a reset?”

I've told him multiple times we can be acquaintances and continue being cordial at work, but our relationship will never again be what it once was. so i’m just wondering why do you miss me weeks after i cut you off?

now, with T, i liked him a lot more. he was so quirky and quick witted. until he pursued me, and love bombed me. texted me like crazy and we hung out for weeks. until one day he ghosted me. he would do this for days at a time at first, coming up with weird excuses every time as to why he wasn’t texting me. and initiating plans with me, only to go ghost on them. i realized excuses is all they were, and if he really liked me that much, he wouldn’t be treating me this way. especially because i communicated the fact that i wasn’t wanting something casual, and he claimed he wasn’t either. so, i block his number, unfollow him on instagram, and it’s radio silence for weeks. right when i’m starting to feel just fine, BAM

he texts me days after P. saying “i’ve been thinking about you, you’ve been good?”

im not understanding the common theme in these men trying to reach out to me after i cut them off. i want to believe they’ve changed. or that they truly miss me and want to treat me better, but i know that’s not the case.

in conclusion, what is this twisted game of cat and mouse, and am i doing something to attract this treatment? why do i easily fall for these guys that end up treating me like dirt. HELP

I'm beginning to think that they like what they can't have. Which just goes to prove that men like to the hunting not be the hunted. 99% of them want you back once it's too late and there chance is done and gone.

Men don’t always come back. A lot of men are glad they left. The ones who are coming back to you are ones you shouldn’t even be dating cause more than likely they’re not a good partner.
