Should I just give him space?

He does everything right but he went quiet out of nowhere but still consistent with texting but doesn’t call. I met his daughter & mom. He left me to interact with them most of the time. He smokes a lot & just seem so distant. I ask him if he is okay he says he’s fine just chilling every time or try to avoid any deep talk lately. I’m thinking maybe I should just give him space?

I’m confused , he does everything right apart from “he smokes a lot “ , “he is distant” and “ he doesn’t talk and says that everything is fine.
So …. He doesn’t do everything right , does he ?
From what you have said , it’s hard to judge a thing , only really have your perspective and even that’s not clear BUT , space is really just a way of ignoring what happening , pushing the problem down the line , hoping blindly that something will change.


Is it possible that you and him just don’t want the same thing? And maybe need to find two other people who are better matched?

Thank you I decided to move on , he just couldn’t be honest after constantly asking. He went silent after I tried to give him a little space

Well , I believe you made the choice that I would have. Sorry if I came across a little blunt. From what you shared I believe everyone deserves more from a friendship than a relationship. Never be afraid of forcing others to value your time, your company etc , your not a doormat and you deserve more because your worth more.

Hmm, sit him down and tell him that you feel something is wrong and that he is acting different. Ask him again if anything is wrong and if he wants to tell you? Ask him what you can do for him to get him through? Good luck.

It doesn't hurt to try giving him space. If he really likes you or wants to be with you, he will wise up and realize he might be losing you.

Presently, giving him space is the best way to see if he's willing to meet you halfway.
