Not interested or shy? Why won’t he message me on Instagram?

A few weeks ago I met this guy at a shop where he fixed my laptop. I thought he was super cute right away, but I’m ridiculously shy and couldn’t even look him in the eye. He seemed kind of nervous too - he messed up the receipt, stuttered and kept sneaking glances at me. Because of my shyness I probably appeared totally uninterested, even though I wasn’t.

Later I found the shop on Instagram and saw his private profile (pretty active, 2000 followers). After overthinking it for ages, I finally followed him. Within five minutes he watched my stories, but it took him about four hours to follow me back.

Since then he’s been watching all my stories. He likes some of them, but not every single one. He also didn’t like my latest selfie on my feed. My friends keep telling me to just DM him, while my best friend thinks he’s holding back so he doesn’t come off too pushy. I honestly have no idea how to read this.

So… How do interested guys usually act? Do you shower the girl with attention? Do you play it cool? And what does this behavior sound like to you?

The problem is that you don’t know if he was interested in you in the first place. You don’t know him personally to determine whether he was shy or what exactly what he was feeling in that moment whatsoever. Like do you know if he usually has a stutter or if he’s socially awkward? Probably not. So I don’t say this to discourage you, I’m just being practical. I mean you’re the one who took it upon yourself to find and add him, not the other way around. So right now it’s a lot of you acting on your own feelings, which to me says you should also be the one to reach out since you know you have a crush.

I Believe he is a shy guy from how you said he acted. and/or He was Intimidated by you because you looked so beautiful. Bad guys (Examples) Players, cheaters, dudes that hit women, alcoholics, these are guys that usually never have a problem hitting on women. (SHY GUYS) Ok Shy guys have problems talking to women today because honestly there are so many beautiful women out there today it is so intimidating for them because i am going to say this right now. (The Female body is without a doubt the most beautiful thing ever created on this planet. Then you girls go accent all your best features with makeup and sexy clothes and then the Dagger her scent hits his nose, and he immediately forgets the English language and starts mumbling and fidgeting with a receipt. So yeah, he is probably too shy to message you, If he doesn't message you in the next 24 hours send one to him.

As an older guy, it is interesting to watch some younger people trying to interact solely through the internet. She had her chance. The guy was literally sitting right in front of her. Within arms reach. And she did nothing. He did nothing. Now they are fumbling around at a distance behind a keyboard. I worry about the future of humanity. The obvious seems to escape people these days.

@OneViewpoint thing is, she doesn’t even know if he was interested. She’s the one that took interest, dug him up online and followed. Now she’s expecting some sort of interaction just because he watches her stories and to her that equates to romantic interest. Quite silly if you ask me lol

I agree. The guy may just be living his life, oblivious to her romantic interest. She could have had her answer on the spot. Maybe these people like the internal turmoil and self imposed drama. Seems childish. Does he or doesn't he? I'm a lot more direct. I'll just ask a woman.

"Hey you're cute, if you're not seeing anyone, give me your number. I'd like to take you out Saturday night. Do you like Spanish tapas?"

Easy. Yes. No. Or, I can't this weekend how about...
