Men, why do you compliment girls?

i want to clarify that isn’t not a bad thing at all because you can be as clear as possible on something and then another person will have a problem with it 😭 when guys compliment girls on stuff like clothes, what is the reason? is it genuine liking of it or is it due to physical attraction? i ask this because for years i never had a guy talk to me, come up to me, nothing. the most play is get is them dareing their friends to ask me out as a joke when i was very little. but i noticed specifically this year, if i’m walking or having a few second conversation with a guy i just met. i’ll get a compliment like “i like ur necklace”, “ur coats pretty cool”. although they seem like normal compliments, are they actually just that or is that code for potential interest. i’m wondering so i can understand better

Oh for crap's sake it's not that complicated. And both genders do it. I get this type of stuff from women all the time.

• Yes it could be attraction and the guy (or a woman) could be fumbling for a pleasant way to open a conversation. It happens all the time with me. My jacket, skin, hair, sweater, watch, overall style, confidence, cologne, whatever. When women do it to me I don't read much into it. They are just trying to start a conversation. What would you do to try and start a conversation with a stranger... "Hey, you ugly and you stink"?
• Or it could be an honest acknowledgement of a woman or man who seems to have a great sense of style with no romantic intentions. There are two women I run into regularly and I always compliment their sense of style because they are always dressed sharp and well put together. It's obvious that they put some effort into how they look. I just acknowledge the effort and success. Maybe it gives them a little ego boost and they feel good for a few minutes.
• Little boys don't do this sort of social etiquette thing. That's why you didn't see this from the 8 year old being teased by his friends to ask you out. And most high school and college age guys are still bumbling tongue tied fools. That's why you're still not seeing it from guys at your age.

We guys get so much hate and insilted if we talk about women's any part of body or lf we say we like you because your beautiful (of course we like more things then beauty alone) so we are taught to make these types of compliments where we don't make it seem like it's light and nice but real reason would be you might have had a glow up and really attractive or maybe really have good fashion sense and charismatic and so on so they just compliment in the safest way that they learnt from YouTube be happy about it 🙌🏻❤️
