Why are most guys against makeup?

For the same reason that women would be turned off to learn that a man was wearing lifts in his shoes and that her 6' tall man was really 5'9". Or that her high-earning boyfriend really only made $50,000 a year and was faking his image with knock-off items and credit cards.

Makeup is a lie, just like wearing lifts or faking your income and lifestyle. The fact that it is common practice doesn't change the fact that YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE THAT. And the even bigger problem is that a lot of women today actually BELIEVE that they actually look like their photos, with their makeup and filters. But that's not what men look at when evaluating a woman's looks - the man mentally removes the makeup and imagines what she looks like right out of the shower, and THAT is how she is ranked.

Is that every man? No, of course not. Some men are idiots and believe the lie is true, and some men have low standards and don't care what she looks like (or if she is even female, in some cases). But it's what most men think when considering a potential relationship partner.

Men are perfectly willing to bang/give sexual attention to women he would never consider for a relationship, but for a relationship, most men want a girl who is as close to "all natural" as possible. This includes no or limited makeup most of the time - exceptions are made for special occasions. This also includes things like tattoos and body piercings - men will happily bang such women, but are a lot less likely to commit to them.

A woman who sacrifices her natural beauty by altering her appearance artificially, with makeup, fillers, implants, tattoos, piercings, shape wear, pads, etc. is very similar to a man who makes really good money but spends that money incredibly foolishly and is always in debt and behind on his bills - the opposite sex is turned off by that person as a relationship partner.

If you ask 100 men something you’ll get 100 answers not all men are the same. Yes, some men prefer a natural look as where others like some makeup. I think some men don’t like a woman being fake, such as altering her entire appearance then take off the makeup and he isn’t attracted to her anymore but frankly you never really liked someone to begin with if that’s the case.

Most guys aren’t actually against makeup.

They’re against the idea of it being fake or hiding something.

But ironically, they usually only notice the heavy makeup, not the subtle kind they claim to prefer.

A lot of men just don’t understand the effort, the artistry, or the intention behind it.

So it’s less about makeup, and more about misunderstanding.

And you always have to wash before you have sex or go to bed.

Costs money.

You dont know if it maybe causes allergies because of the chemicals...

I use water.

My body wash without perfume or silicone.

I think men are turned off by obviously fake-looking make up. Some women wear so much that they wind up looking like transvestites.

But, aside from teen agers, most women look better with makeup. It's a matter of knowing how to make it look natural. If done right, it accentuates her eyes and makes her lips look tender. It can make her look fresh and radiant.

Mascara and subtle eye liner is good. Giant, fake eye lashes are grotesque and so is garsh eye shadow, thick, black eye liner, overly sculpted eye brows and gaudy lipstick. The idea is to look natural while subtly enhancing your natural features.

Makeup is no more unnatural than shaving body hair and using lotion, or having a cute hair style.

I love that women go out of their way to look as soft and feminine as possible to distinguish themselves from men.

It hides flaws. It is effectively lying about her appearance by wearing it. Women should always have no makeup for the first date so the man actually knows what she looks like. Makeup is no different than stealing someone's picture online and pretending it is them IRL.

On a scale from 1 to 10, MOST women look 3 to 4 points lower than they think. They subconsciously know this, and that is part of the reason they hide it with makeup. Logically most are 4 to 6, but the majority think they are AT LEAST an 8 when they are not. They lie to each other and themselves so often, they start to believe their lies.

1. Go to your vanity table, pick up the jar of goop you put on your face. Now try to either TASTE that or rub it on your lips to see what it feels like to kiss that.

2. You like the sticky lip gloss? put that all over your index finger then smear it on your cheek and wait a minute or two to see how that feels.

That's what guys get when we slather gunk on our faces. Don't do it.

Personally, I barely wear a touch of eye makeup and a hydrating gloss to keep my lips from chapping in the cold weather. That's seriously it. EVEN THEN some guys complain that's too much and that I don't need it.

I do not think most are.

Most like natural but a little make up is usually fine.

I would guess a lot of make up looks fake and plastic and is to get attention.

When picking a mate it helps to know what she REALLY LOOKS LIKE without gobs of make up and filters on every picture.

The want the real you. Also, how many relationships fall into the woman putting on tons of makeup and nice, form fitting clothes... to go to work every day then she gets home to her man to immediately change into sweats, pony tail and look like a bum?

There is a lot of nuance to the topic but I think most guys are totally fine with some make up. Too much and for the wrong occasions may rub wrong.

If a woman feels she cannot be seen without it ever... red flag.

Because its just artificial and doesn't look better. Its obvious when a 6 is trying to be an 8 with a ton of makeup, and if overdone actually makes her a 4 to me. For me natural beauty is the most pretty, and ultimately makeup is done to cheat your looks which instinct wise we looked at to judge how healthy you are / how good the chances of the offspring are. So I do think we are hardwired to want to judge that even if we don't contiously do it for that reason. So if I am right on that the looks cheating can be registered as a means of masking it, which in my mind then assumes the worst.

It’s not that they’re against it. They’re against women faking who they are and not being comfortable in their own skin. Plus, a lot of women go overboard with the makeup to the point of looking clownish.

Most men think they are against makeup because they only realize girls are wearing it when they go overboard. There might be some guys who are REALLY against it, like for religious reasons or something, but for the most part I would ignore guys who say they don’t like makeup bc in most cases they just do not realize that all the women they think look pretty are wearing the right amount of makeup. I like it when my wife gets dolled up if we're going to a special event. She doesn't cake it on but she definitely looks stunning as opposed to just gorgeous. That's why it's nice that she doesn't do it that often, because it's always special when she does.

False advertising. You think you are getting X but in fact you get X triple minus.

There is going to be a disappointment factor when you see her without. Suppose the first time you see her naturally was the morning after the wedding. You could be horrified and feel cheated.

Because it is misleading perhaps we subconsciously suspect she will be misleading in other ways.

For myself I appreciate the art form so I don't have any objection to it.

It's not make-up, per se, it's TOO MUCH make-up!! Make-up is just supposed to ENHANCE your features not completely cover them until you like a completely different person!!
Someone like Kathy Griffin REALLY NEEDS a LOT of make-up!!! Otherwise, she looks like burn victim!!
The thing is, most girls already look pretty. And, guys don't exactly like girls that look COMPLETELY different in bed than who they spent the day with. Would you like it if we did that?
