Is it weird to talk to strangers while in a public bathroom?

I was using the urinal in the bathroom at Walmart this morning. It was just me. This old man walked in and used the urinal next to me. When I was done, he was like "how you doing?" I thought maybe he was talking in a Bluetooth ear bud to someone else, but he was indeed talking to me. I responded "great how are you?" He said "at my age, as long as im alive, im doing great". Then he went on to say that he has 6 dogs, and that dogs are better than people. I told him I agree. Then he was like "when I was your age, I could take a piss outside, and dig holes in the dirt, now i can hardly break the dust!" I thought what he said was funny, so i laughed. I didn't know what to say, so I said "I don't know what to tell ya there" he laughed. I just told him to have a good day, then I left. I've just never had a stranger initiate a conversation with me in the bathroom all while taking a piss.
