No I don't believe that to be true. I don't carry those premium cards because of the high annual fees that net you very little unless you travel a whole lot. I can get quite a good card that earns travel and other rewards more suited to my life for $99 annual fee. I easily can make that up in a year in rewards. My dad carries one of those premium cards and last I knew they are aroud $800/year these days. They give you premium perks and rewards but he is someone that travels a lot so it makes a lot more sense for him versus the typical person that most of that fee would not be recouped in a year. I think a lot of people have them for the perceived prestige of being able to pull it out of their wallet. That makes no sense to me so the guy that has the debit card is going to be more attractive because I will see him as more sensible unless he uses that type of premium card to its limits.
