How do I pick a cologne or aftershave lotion out for my boyfriend without him knowing?

My guy will wear different aftershave lotions or colognes if I like it usually. They all smell differently on his skin. I was intending to get him some for his birthday. He does absolutely hate to shop or go into a store. If he does go into a store, he gets exactly what he wants and marches right out. He doesn't shop like me. How would I get him to try on a sample or two of something just to see how it smells on him without him knowing that I am considering buying it for his birthday?

Good luck with that one lol. I don't think you can. I hate shopping as much as he does, so just doing it for fun isn't going to fly. And him trying samples instantly gives it away.

Besides personally I wouldn't enjoy that as a gift, but maybe he is more into it. I prefer a gift related to my hobbies.

I mean…. Just buy something and see if he likes it. I know it’s hard to buy for some people. Pick a sent you like on him…. It says something when you picked something out knowing that you would like the way it smells on him.

If he absolutely just hates it. Then you’ll know not to get it again…. But I think he will be happy for the gift.

I would take the names of his current colognes to a parfumerie and let them recommend something based on that.
