Who do you make it a point to show up for in life?

A guy I know who has a rep for being very "party animal" sort (though I know that behind the scenes he also works hard and tends to his elderly widowed mom). He doesn't really have the time (or habit) of helping others, but once in a while he'll go out of his way to "show up" for someone in a big way. Do you think it's random or is he trying to express something particular by showing up for those individuals?

There are four or five people who will receive my time and attention whenever needed: my wife, my mother, my younger brother, my best friend since 1971 (55 years as best friends, we met the first day of college,) and the other attorney in my office (he is divorced, recently diagnoses with prostate cancer, and his brother died a year ago, so he needs a friend!)

Friends and family as much as I can. The good and bad quality I have is that I put in more effort helping others than I do for myself. It gives me fulfillment helping others

I make it a point to show up for the people who truly matter , those who are consistent, supportive, and real with me.

Family, close friends, and my partner come first, because relationships are built on presence and reliability. I try to be there not just in easy times, but when it really counts.

You make time for the people you love. I think he cares for those people by making the effort to show up.

It used to be my sister Lynn and of course mom along with a few close friends. They've all gone except Lynn. And she left in 2012 to which I understand not.

Humans are allowed to be unpredictable. I myself am often torn between responsibilities and sounds like this guy you know is doing what he feels is best. He is making a point to show his support and I can support that!
