Falsely charged with sexual assault—should I stop dating for now?

I’m serious, I think I was falsely charged and I really don’t wanna put my dating life on hold?

I was told by someone that whether I’m guilty or not (and I’m 100% not), I still shouldn’t be looking for women while it’s hanging over my head.

Well, if your case is pending, you should probably not leave your house. I’m serious. If you were found not guilty, I’m happy for you, but I think you’re right reputation really matters and they’re going to be people that stick a label on you whether or not you are vindicated in court. It’s one of those situations where you may have to restart your life somewhere else. Sometimes it’s best to look around see the storm around you and let it pass first.

@Jackblue Depends on the court. In the 1980s, there was a mas hysteria of satanic child abuse where people were being accused left and right, with little or no evidence. Trump has brought it up again, even though his girls were in their teens. Two men I know have recently been accused. One might have done something, but it is likely the girl started it, teasing, and he took it too far. The other is gay and they can harass him all they like. In another, a police officer was railroaded simply because he was gay. They even admitted that if the photo had been of a girl, they wouldn't have brought it up. Believe it or not, many people in prison did something but did not do what they are charged with. A lot of law enforcement officers exaggerate charges to ensure conviction. Padding the case helps with "liberal" judges who let people off with a slap on the wrist.

You are being a bit confusing though about whether you were charged. Did the police cuff you and say you are under arrest for rape or sexual assault? That is what it is to be charged. If it is simply a case of thinking that someone is about to accuse you, than that might or might not happen. I will give you some basic advice (I don't know if you are innocent or guilty, but this is advice regardless and hopefully the court will come to the right verdict). Use your right to remain silent, when they arrest you tell them you want a lawyer (a female lawyer would probably be best for such a case), and then say nothing, unless your lawyer tells you to. Cops are allowed to lie during questioning about how much evidence they have against you or how you'll be sentenced in order to get you to confess. The law permits them to and they will try to do it. They might tell you confess now and you'll be out in a year. That means nothing unless it is in writing. Therefore again, listen to what the lawyer tells you.
