Men thrive on respect and admiration. As long as you always give him something to do for you and express your appreciation for his doing it, a man will crawl through broken glass to keep you happy.
It doesn’t matter what it is either. If you’re one of those strong, independent modern women, let him open your pickle jars even if you can do it. He almost certainly knows that you can, but he is hardwired to help you. When he comes home from the store with the Pickle Jar Opener 3000, find something else that he can do for you. Let him change your oil. Give AAA a rest and call your fella when you have a flat tire.
If you don’t live together, ask him to walk you to your car… always. It works especially well if it’s something he seems to like doing anyway. If he’s a sneaker geek and always cleaning and polishing his kicks, give him a pair of your shoes to brush up.
Just remember to always show appreciation.
