I'm talking about either in a relationship, a fling, a friendship with "benefits", or just in general, or in any other common situation you can think of. YOU CHOOSE THE SITUATION and then write the top 10 things you think a guy should know about a guy. These are things that guys usually just seem to NOT know.

LET ME GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE. One thing I hear from girls about what guys SHOULD know is how girls wish guys would be a little more assertive in general, that girls like that? I don't know though some girls don't like guys "coming on too strong" so everyone, give their input... Let's see what we can learn. loll.

1. Not all girls expect guys to make the first move. Some girls like making the first move, and doing some of the chasing, especially if they really, REALLY like that person and want to be with them.

2. Being shy is okay, many girls, including me, LIKE that in a guy. Don't get that confused with being a pushover, because that's not attractive, but a guy being shy can make girls like them even more, believe it or not.

3. If a girl honestly looks you in the eyes and smiles, even if just for a second, she likes you or at least finds you attractive/wants to know more about you.

4. PLEASE if you like a girl, or as long as you don't find her totally repulsive, answer her texts. In my case, I hate texting probably just as much as you do, because it sucks as a real way to communicate. But seriously, if a girl texts you, (especially if she likes you) it probably took a ton of courage and she was probably thinking about you.

5. This goes along with #4: If you're really busy or just don't want to text at that moment, please text or tell the girl SOMEHOW that you got her text, and why you didn't answer. And if you didn't answer because you didn't want to, then tell her! It will at least make her stop wondering and beating herself up about it.

6. It's okay to show emotion and open up to us or to other people. It doesn't make you weak or less masculine, it makes you human and it makes you really relatable and that much easier to be friends with and like.

7. If a girl asks you to hang out and you're busy, say so. If she asks you to hang out and you don't want to FOR WHATEVER REASON, tell her. Girls are sensitive and easily hurt, so even if you don't care for a girl as more than a friend, don't snub her or make her wonder.

8. If we like you, you could come up to us and talk to us about dryer lint and we won't care! Just talking to you most likely will make our day.

9. Girls only put a ton of effort into their appearances because they think you want them to. Translation: Don't put such high expectations on girls for their appearances, and maybe they won't be high maintenance.

10. Overall, just open up to us, regardless if you like us as more than a friend or not. Be expressive in your texts and conversations, and if you for some reason let a girl down, PLEASE don't hesitate to apologize or at least clarify your reasoning behind it. It causes a girl's mind and heart to be under SO MUCH LESS pressure and less turmoil.

I don't have top 10 things I think a guy should know about a girl. But I wish to bring certain awareness to guys about relationship and break-ups with a girl:

In very very general terms, guys within the 18-24 age group don't usually REALLY care about how a girl feels (assuming she's a decent girl), especially when it comes to breaking up. Guys tend to be more self-centered, or in better words, take their own interest way more than the girl. Not suggesting this is a bad thing, but I do wish guys will be more considerate and less selfish if they ever get into a serious relationship with a girl. It's very inconsiderate, selfish for guys to have this temporary adrenaline rush, wanting to get into a relationship with a girl, leading her on, then telling that you wanna break it up due to reasons such as fear of commitment etc.. Guys may be able to say many things to comfort a girl, but the fact is most guys don't exactly understand how a girl feel, and most probably don't REALLY care how her life is gonna be after that. In fact, guys feel but don't feel as much as girls (generally...but not saying everyone). It's a pain really. And sadly, this is just life and fact of life.

To summarize it, only consider getting into a relationship with a girl if you know both of you are serious about it and matured enough to handle the situation, and take responsibility in both of you, and be considerate with a girl's feelings. As for break-ups, please please please break up for the right reason, and ideally, at the right time. My ex had to break the news to me before my exams, without even giving signals that he was gonna break-up before this at all. Despite being sad, I was extremely pissed off with him no matter how nice a guy he is because I had a lot at stake with my studies this year and he couldn't even care less. I can play the understanding role considering that it's his first time and he had no idea what to do, but no one can help me in getting the good grades that I needed real badly, when he's happily focusing and not worrying about his career. Also, usually guys are able to concentrate and focus a lot better than girls after an emotional break-down or break-up with girlfriends. It takes a lot more for girls to recover, and usually guys are not aware and don't even care.

P.S.: Not putting full blame on my ex, but no decent girl deserves this, especially she took the trust and evaluated that he will be fine in the relationship.

I love assertive guys, but not when they come on too strong. An example of being assertive--when we're on a date and everything went extremely well. Come time for us to go home and the guy leans in for a kiss :]

An example of coming on too strong would be the guy expecting you to call him every minute or he calls every minute of the day confessing his "dying love" for you...

Anyway, my list is as followed:

1. Do NOT compare us to your ex ! ugh...you wouldn't like it if we did the same to you.

2. Girls love to feel special, even though they might not show it.

3. Confidence goes a long way.

4. Don't say you have feelings/strong feelings if you don't mean it.

5. NO means NO, not "oh, she said no so I'll try again in two minutes."

6. Don't expect to get your hoodie or other pieces of clothing you lent us back.

7. You're dead meat if you can't get along with our pets, parents, and especially best friends. Be prince charming to our friends, Mr. Polite to our parents, and nice to our animals.

8. If something or someone is bothering us, stick up for us ! or just be there...

9. Don't make plans with us and completely forget about them later.

Am I the only guy who is annoyed with girls constantly expecting us to do all the work? Seriously, almost every girl here seems to have this mindset that the guy must:

- Always tell the girl first how they feel

- Always be confident

- Always be strong

- Always having their back

etc. So unrealistic lol. Now, if you girls don't really feel that way, at least make point that out. Guys like being chased/told first too. It gives us the same "feel good feeling" you get. 1. Never assume anything. Always communicate and be honest with us.

2. Not all girls can be generalized, not all of us are the same.

3. Don't say anything along the lines of "are you on your period or something?" just because we snap at you. That will only make us madder, especially if we aren't. Or are. We can be mad for lots of reasons.

4. When we tell you a problem, we generally don't want a solution. Unless we ask for one, keep your mouth shut and just comfort us. Women and men are different. Women like to talk about their problems while men like to fix them.

5. Never pretend to listen to us. If you find yourself zoning out, ask if you could talk later, because you're distracted. Possibly change the topic to something that interests you more.

6. Never be unfaithful in a relationship. There is never, ever a reason for that. Even if you're just f*** buddies with a girl, tell her if you'll be going on an honest date with a girl, and break it off with your f*** buddy if you get in a serious relationship unless things are very open and all parties are aware that they're free to see whoever they want.

7. Most girls like to be reasured of themselves. Whether it's about their place in your life, whether or not you find them attractive, or if they make you happy. If a girl means something to you, tell her (that is, assuming you're already in some kind of established relationship.)

8. Good personal grooming is good. Not saying that you have to look ready to go to court, but clean hair, fresh breath, and decent nails are always nice.

9. If you like a girl, just tell her. If you can't get a reading on her either way, just take the plunge. If you get rejected it's not that big of a deal. No matter what you do in life, you're going to have to get over rejection one way or another.

10. If you can't act yourself around a woman that you're in a relationship with, it's time to leave the relationship. You should always be yourself and be able to be happy while doing it. This rule works both ways, and I don't know if some guys realize that they can be in an emotionally abusive relationship with women just because they don't think they'll be able to get anyone else. People can end up hating themselves from being in a bad relationship.

3. don't make up stories about your self to make you sound better to us, we are women, we WILL figure out the truth.

buuut my 10 things are:

1. don't just ASSUME we're attracted to you because we're nice to you. it's both creepy and conceited.
