Should I get a medical marijuana card or am I better off to just continuing using rec? Also any suggestions on what marijuana I should buy for cheap?

I was out with a friend today and he took me to a rec marijuana dispensary for the first time.

They were having a 20% off sales event for blunts. On top of a 10% student discount, as well as another for it being my first time/first purchase. And I would of got another 10% discount if I had ID from in-state.

But all things said, it still ended up costing me $26.40 for four blunts.

And I’ve already gone through three of them today.

I had one just before lunch but for some reason my high was delayed for like 2 hours later.

Then I had another two at night about 30 minutes apart from eachother.

I started to feel hungry afterwards. But I also was feeling more sleepy.

Anyway I already burned through most of that cash.

Even if I objectively got a good deal on those blunts (I don’t know, I have nothing to compare it to).

It still feels like I was kinda ripped off and cheated.

I mean while I was at the store the guy said this pack of edibles they had would last somebody two weeks even on heavy use for just $30.00

And then my friend was telling me cartridges are the way to go. For $30-40 you could get one and have it last for several days of use.

So I’m thinking I’m probably more of a cart guy rn tbh. I like the cooling effect it has on your lungs and how the vape is flavored with good tastes.

It’s just my friend isn’t really into them so I haven’t been exposed.

Also if I get a medical marijuana card it’s apparently going to be kind of expensive. My friend knows how it works, he went through the process, and I’d have to pay $60 for a state ID and then $50 for a doctor’s visit to approve.

But my friend said the medical facilities offer better prices than the rec facilities.

So I don't know if it’d be worth it or not cuz I’m not sure how often I’m going to be shopping for weed. There’s a chance in the long run I could save money though by getting a medical card.

But if its only like the difference of a couple bucks between places than it’s probably not worth it.

Okay, I personally don't know you or your medical situation. I am a chronic pain patient due to a rare gwnetic disease that causes joint dislocations. I was in a pain practice for over 8 years when they decided to cut me off cold turkey to go through withdrawal from opiates with absolutely no help. No amount of praying makes the sting of withdrawal any less. The natural option is cannabis. I had never used cannabis until this year. My recommendation is the continue using rec cannabis if its more affordable. I also have started to grow my own and I have been very successful. We can only grow 4 plants per household. Check your local laws. Study everything you find on YouTube about growing. I do have my medical certificate and I visit the dispensary in between grows.

I think it just comes down to how long you are planning on keeping up the trashy habit. I know many places, if you get a medical marijuana card then you are not legally allowed to own a gun. However if you were going to keep throwing your money at the skunk weed, you'll probably benefit a lot more from the discounts than you would having a gun anyway.

I suggest buying none. I can tell you I have literally smoked weed thousands of times. For several periods of my life daily. At times if I was awake, I was high.


I will tell you weed is quite enjoyable. I will also tell you it clouds the mind, makes one a pleasure seeker, and makes one lazy. For some with anxiety issues it can make them worse even over the long term.


Weed is now addictive with the high levels of THC in many varieties. Although I was not an addict, I’d start and stop as I chose my best advice to you is as Johnny Cash once sang “lay off that whiskey and let that cocaine be.” Or in your case weed rather than coke.

You should check out "Cannabis Use Disorder" and see if you really want to get started into using it. It may help in some instances, but the downside might be the side effects that no one talks about in it's prolonged use. It's kind of like taking drugs. It may help with some medical issues, but often the possible side effects may be just as bad or worse.

Buddy, what she said is sound advice and read what I wrote. They promote weed now as a panacea that’s safe. Maybe 30 years ago there was some truth to that but there is no longer. This weed today is very, very strong and that now aknwldege it is addictive due to such high levels of THC.

Though the first and last mention drunkenness, which is the word we use for overindulging with alcohol, the principal applies to not only alcohol but any intoxicating substance, most especially ones not used for medicinal reasons.

So with love and kindness, I say to you I think using that recreationally is not only a bad judgment call as it can have negative effects on your health and wallet, but I also think it’s a sin. Ask a priest if it’s sin or not. I implore you to let that weed be.

I understand. By overindulge I mean to be drunk. A person can have multiple drinks based on body weight and how fast they consume it before they even have a buzz, let alone being drunk.

Not so with weed. As soon as you inhale it, you’re high.

The issue is not one of frequency but rather one of excess and having a clear mind. Without any intoxicant at all, we humans have enough trouble doing the right thing and thinking clearly at times, adding an intoxicant to the sin nature we all have only increases the probability of sinning. All of us sin every day without alcohol or being high, how much more so if excessive amounts of intoxicants. Not that I’m saying it’s wrong to drink, but it is wrong to be drunk.

Let’s look at it this way. You profess to be a Christian. What Christian smokes weed, even just once a week? Do you think Jesus would light up a doobie? What kind of witness does that set? If people know you align with Christ, does it bring him glory or tarnish his reputation when people know you are a professing Christian but use weed weekly?

I’m not trying to come down on you or be a kill joy. I want the best for you, and I want you to be the best servant for Christ you can be. That said, smoking weed is neither in your best interest nor in Christ’s. So I feel compelled to say something. If I had no care for you or Christ I’d remain silent.

Pray about it. Talk to a priest. Consult scripture. If there’s no merit to what I’m saying, then disregard, but I think if you think it through, you’ll see I’m speaking truth to you and that I’m correct in what I’m saying.

You’re your own man, so I will not push the issue from here forth. I said what I needed to, it’s you who has to choose what you will do going forward regarding this.

Because it violates God’s commands. Not all sins harm us or someone else. Some sins are simply disobedience against God.

The answer to your confusion can be found in Galatians 5:19-21 which I stated earlier. Drunkenness is listed with all those other sins. Those sins are the deeds of the flesh. That list is by no means exhaustive but rather a very brief sampling. Our obedience to God manifests it self in our words, thoughts and deeds. Your flesh which sin lives in, and the same for all of humanity. Likes to indulge in these things, but they war against your spirit. When you walk in the spirit you will not gratify the deeds of the flesh. We are to be constantly killing off sin in our lives or it will kill us. It drags further ways from God. It puts our focus off him and onto sinful self gratification. Works of the flesh are basically the sin nature in you wanting to come out and play. Your job is to not comply with those desires and temptations, and focus on God. To become more Christlike through the process of sanctification.

The harm also is we live in a world where many will face judgment. We are commanded to make disciples of all men. For some, the only Bible they will ever read is YOU. Your actions have profound impact on others in terms of living for Christ. Why should they listen to the pot smoking Christian about matters of theology? You disqualify yourself by doing this.

Scripture stats we are ambassadors for Christ. Representatives from his kingdom to the lost. Being known as a pot smoker who tells others about Jesus will have little effect.

So that’s where the harm is.

If I were to tell you I watch porn once a week, just to relax, what would you say? Certainly you’d advise me that is sin and I must repent.

How about praying when you feel stressed or getting with another Christian for support? What about reading the Bible instead, or even just getting a healthy hobby?

So to sum it up, you doing this does not affect only you and it’s sin.
