Guys, why so much cologne?

I get it... guys sweat. Honestly, in the dead of winter guys are still like little furnaces walking alongside a gal, so I can understand that summer stink is a real thing for the average Joe. But take a shower or something. Dousing yourself with enough cologne to choke an elephant isn't the answer...

I was at a thing yesterday and some guy insisted on standing in my personal space to chat me up, but I was literally watery-eyed and coughing from his awful cologne. I couldn't even pretend to ignore it. As soon as he stepped away I was fine.

WTF do you even say to a guy like that? "It's not you, it's me. I'm allergic to you..." (Sigh.)

I don't ever use cologne although I was gifted it quite often back in my high school days to the point I have a stash of it (many bottles) just sitting in my closet. When I know I'm going to be out all day and will most likely be sweating, I rub a little coconut oil and then some baking soda under my pits. That seems to do the trick. It kills the odor and doesn't really have a smell.

I have a belief that if it's not something you can eat, then you shouldn't put it on your skin. If I'm sweating quite a bit and know I smell unpleasant, then I usually find a washroom and soap and rinse my pits, then dry them with a paper towel.

I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I wore cologne. I don't even think I own any.

I shower, and wear deodorant with clean clothes. I routinely get told I smell could, so I've never even considered adding cologne to the mix. Even for formal events, I just practice good hygiene. That's always been enough for me.

I don't like wearing it, but some around me do and I have to cough and take a few steps back. And, when I do wear it, it's spray twice slightly above my head and walk through it.

I also don't think it's healthy to put it directly on the body.

I roll with Axe 'Black' body spray. Interesting considering I'm a white fella.

Quality is better, a spritz on the wrists and neck is enough to be subtle

I rarely use cologne or after shave. My Wife is sensitive to such things and it’s not necessary.

No clue, I'm super sensitive to smells, so while I do wear it, it's minimal

I agree guys sometimes wear way too much... I try to wear just enough so if a woman gets into my personal space she ca get a whiff... no more than that.
