Do guys really feel shy being shirtless around female friends?

One time, I was at my guy friend's house talking to his mom when he had just woken up and came out of his room without a shirt on. As soon as he saw me, he immediately ran back to put a shirt on. 😂 It made me wonder, do guys actually get shy about being shirtless in front of girls, even if they're just friends?
