What do you think it means if two people keep staring at each other?

So this guy and I, who don't really know each other keep catching each others glances. He'll be look at me and when I look at him he just continues to stare into my eyes until I look away. If in passing he'll say hello and sometimes throw me a smile. Even if he's talking to another girl if he sees me he'll stare and as I pass by them he will say "hello". We've been doing this for a long time. He also 'teases' me a bit during work meetings. Like if I say something about something he'll joke about it like "your fired"...or if I send an email he'll respond with something funny (not always).

I like him, I think we have chemistry or something.

What do you think it means if two people keep staring at each other?

One time he came to my office to introduce a few people and as we caught each others eyes he just stood there and I said "hi, with a big smile" and he continued to stare and paused and after a few moments said "hi." It was strange, like I don't know.

Thoughts? Could there be other reasons why he stares back?

After a week, we again saw each other. Whenever he sees me, his attention is always on me. He does not look at other girls in front of me, even if they are more beautiful. This time there was congestion and he was in the middle of the road, trying to prevent confusion among vehicles. The moment he saw me, I don't know what happened to him. He stopped looking at the drivers and turned fully towards me. He kept looking in my eyes. A girl talked to him so he had to look at her and I was f jealous. So I looked sideways. My friend nudged me and told me his eyes never left my sight. I looked at him and Lmao I swear it was like a movie scene😂There were so many vehicles yet he was just looking at me. A bus passed in between us, he still did not move his eyes from mine. I kinda saw a faint smile on his face. I don't know. We crossed the street and since I was pissed off, I did not look at him again. Me and my friend were at the zebra crossing. My friend tapped me and informed me of his stares. He raised his hand from a distance to stop a coming vehicle and I looked at him and smiled to show my gratefulness. When we crossed my friend again said he was turning his head to stare but I chose to ignore it. The next day he saw me and ignored me. I again had exams and thus, we did not see each other. This time for a long period. I saw him recently. It was a surprise and shock for both of us. The moment he saw me, his eyes kinda sparkled since I noticed a change in his eyes. They appeared to be lighter and again it seemed as if he wanted to smile, but he did not. He looked like he was holding himself. We kept staring in each other's eyes. My cousin was besides me and my sister was behind. I could not see him because my cousin was blocking my view but my sister said he is still staring at me and kept turning his head but to look at me. He is very tall so he can actually see me but I could not since am not as tall as him. I did not look his way since I felt he had stopped looking at me. But my sister said his focus was only on me. My cousin turned to look and she even said the same thing. Last week, I saw him again and went to stand where he was. I looked at him waiting for him to say something. He told me to use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road with a neutral face. I acted deaf and stared blankly at him. He then with a quieter voice told me to cross the street. Upon returning, I found him near the zebra crossing. I could not help but grin. I could not look at him since I was blushing but I was informed of his stares yet again. I recently got to know he is f married and I was heartbroken. So that's y I ignored him. And I guess that's why he never approached me. He did say hello to my friends when I was not there but never to me. I feel he is nervous to initiate a convo. He gazes at other girls and smiles. But he never did so in front of me. I was his sole focus despite several beautiful girls were around me. And I kinda feel he likes me a lot. His stares were only directed at my face, precisely my eyes. He never analysed me in an uncomfortable way neither did he check me out openly. I just want to know if he did like me. It would not lead to anything but it would calm my heart to actually get an answer.

I experienced a similar type of situation.. It was on a bus, didn't know the girl (was a girlfriend from a guy standing next to me who I knew trough the guy across him who lived in my town). And me and the girl were looking and smiling to each other, after a while she was standing next to me ... And even the other guys noticed that we were keeping a staring-contest, eventually she told 'us' that she had a boyfriend ... So I thought, what was this all about...?

It might be that the other person admires your appearance,

It might be that the other person seems interested in you, but wants you to make the first move,

It might just be that one of you wants to intimidate the other.

I think there is potential for something developing. Of course its a strange position to be in at work place. I think he is just being very cautious of what other colleagues might say. So see if you can try going out on a lunch or two. Just as friends of course. Then see where it goes.

He's flirting with you, and by making sure you see him talking to other women, he's letting you know that he's "in demand" so to speak. Ask him out.
