Why does he sit next to me and not across from me?

I go to lunch with the same co-worker everyday, sometimes just the two of us sometimes in a group. Whenever its just us, he always sits next to me and never across from me at the table which feels very unnatural to me. Why would he do this? Am I the "odd" one for expecting him to sit across from me? To me I feel like its easier to talk to someone your facing instead of having to turn to see them.

I feel the same way about people sitting next to me instead of across, it feels weird, I don't like turning my head to talk to someone, I just want to be able to look right at them without getting neck problems lol. I guess Next time he sit next to you instead of across you, move yourself and sit across him yourslef, be nice of course, and just say "i will see you better like that" or something..

Yeah, it would definitely make me feel uncomfortable. It's easier to talk to someone you are facing. Maybe he doesn't think about it too much?

Ask him next time to sit facing you so you can see him :)

Yeah I get shy like that lol. I'd feel like you're staring into my soul. at least if I'm next to you I can feel comfy enough to hold you in my arms. :-)

Well I would sit next to someone for the same reason as the previous answers, it would make me feel uneasy and I would probably get awkward sitting in front of them. It's easier to sit next to someone if you're uncomfortable!

He might be shy and struggles to maintain eye contact with you. I've had that problem before. Maybe talk to him about it?
