Girly girl or athletic girl?

girly girl = skinny, wears make up, designer clothes, shops a lot and hates the out doors and exercise/getting sweaty/dirty

athletic girl = basically a tom boy, toned muscular body, loves the outdoors and being active, surfing, kayaking, biking, traveling, wears clothes like the north face and Columbia, gets dressed up only on occasion(to meet the parents, a formal dinner, etc)

also consider the difference there would be in personality, girlie girl more sensitive, a bit needy, tom boy, is more free and wild...

I've always leaned more toward the tomboys/athletic girls for a number of reasons.

1. Common interests are one of the key elements of compatibility. If we don't have activities we enjoy doing together, then realistically how can we hope ti enjoy each others' company? Anyway, I don't have any girlie interests.

2. When a woman is more in touch with her masculine side, she tends to be lower drama and maintenance.

3. A girl which is fit/toned/muscular as you say will understand why I treat the gym as my second home and won't see anything wrong with it.

4. I like the idea of a woman who dresses for 100% form follows function. I like practicality and respect and admire people who put it first in the way they stress. I don't believe in things like jewelry and I don't like the idea of dressing up. Wouldn't much care for her doing it either.

this question is biased toward athletic girls, which I'm guessing is what you are. I am both athletic and a girlie girl. I like sports and dressing up, don't hate the outdoors, I like to look pretty. If you're going to ask a question, at least make a fair comparison

All guys are different. They will sy they prefer one over the other, but then they will meet someone who is totally opposite of what they said they liked and poof they are in a relationship with that person.

My preferences:

- I always prefer sporty, tomboyish, athletic girls, they are self. confident, wild and tend to be dominant, I like that in a girl.

- I like natural beauty - no makeup or just basic cosmetics (primer, face powder, concealer);

- I really like girls with fit and toned body (but not extremely muscular).
I like girls who wear sporty, casual, and edgy outfits.

- I don't like girly girls, they are shy and submissive, I really don't like that in a girl.

- I don't like girly girl outfits either, I can't stand high heels, and I don't like makeup (lipstick, blusher, eye shadow etc).

- I prefer girls in pants rather than skirts or dresses (but miniskirt is ok) - I'm a leg-man.
Still, shorts are better than any skirt, and athletic girls have better legs than girly girls.

- My type of girls usually wear: Crop tops, short shorts, tank tops, skinny & ripped jeans, t-shirts, tight sweatpants, tube tops, socks & sneakers, camo pants, combat boots etc.

Many girls are the shades of grey in between this. Even girlie girls tend to go out running or to the gym to keep fit and thin. They also do not necessarily hate the outdoors... You might have heard of going to the beach to get a tan? =) There are good looking active girls as well that still dress nice and wear makeup but might be less concerned with the latest fashion and getting a many-petty... I would say most girls fall in this grey area... The two scenarios are very extreme and unrealistic. I play in the grey so I would not choose either.

A sort of in between. I think big muscles on girls are unatractive. I like sensitive girls. But who like stuff like jet skiing and stuff haha. Sort of towards the athletic girl but not with big muscles and not too loud. I like quiet and sensitive girls. Oh and slim

The athletic girl as you have defined her is basically my ideal woman (aside from the brand names cause I don't pay any attention to brand names). I like girls who save the "dressy" clothes only for special occasions, I love it when she's adventurous, I love it when she's active, I love it when she's no maintenance, and I think the toned muscular body is my ideal body for a woman.

a mix of both , I love well dressed ladies but I also love doing extreme sports and 'getting dirty' so I would like my girlfriend to like the same stuff . And I can't stand people who think they will die from a little dirt or cold ..

I think your categories are too narrow.Girly has nothing to be with being skinny. I don't wear designer clothes and I don't mind getting sweaty, I work out at the gym all the time, but I'm not a tomboy either and I do wear makeup most of the time.

Depends I've had a girlfriend that was a girlie girl at the time she was great. I've also had a girlfriend that was a total Tom boy I loved her at the time. Which would I prefer a girlie girl for sure but they both make for good gfs
