When a guy smirks as he walks past...what does it mean?

Say when he was just passing you, almost like a small laugh but there is nothing funny to laugh about. I had my back to him and only when he went past and did this did I look up and realize it was him.

He has done this a few times now and I can't help but feel he is coming across as a bit cocky, does he know I like him and that's why he finds it funny? History: we have had eye contact for a while now, but lately I figured he is waay out of my league so I have stopped the eye contact (well, with the exception of a few quick glances). Any thoughts would be appreciated!

A smile/wink/smirk as you walk by a girl is a way to see how you respond. Your response will tell him these things:

If you look at him and smile a little, that lets him know you are interested in him or think he's cute.

If you look at him like he's weird or you're disgusted by him, that lets him know you aren't attracted to him and if he's smart, he won't approach you.

If you don't really do anything or look away, it's an either/or answer. Either you don't really know what to think about him, or you're shy and aren't comfortable around him. That can be because you like him and have the butterflies!(:

All in all, what he's doing is trying to see what you're reaction to him is so he can tell if you're interested in him. Personally, I would stay away from the cocky guys like that who are most likely going to play you to get in your pants. I see that happen all the time. It can mean many things.

- your shoes are untied

- your hair is messy

- he thinks you're cute

- you remind him of somebody

etc etc. So there's no one answer. Only he knows. Try not to worry about it unless many guys start doing it.
