Why does it mean if a guy come and stand right in front of me intentionally and says only 'hello'?

I gave him an upward nod and a smile when he said 'hello' to me.And he walked off without saying anything else after seeing that I have nodded and smiled at him.And he is a very outgoing and friendly guy.Isn't it strange?

My suggestion is that you try to engage him in a little conversation. Ask him "How are you feeling today?" or "Hi, you are looking good today." See what his response is. I guess he will be only too pleased to have a conversation with you.
