My boyfriend says he doesn't deserve me?

I've been dating this guy for about 8 months now. Last week, during our 8-month anniversary, I decided to bake a cake for him. When I presented him with the cake, he felt really happy but later began tearing up saying things like how he doesn't deserve me and that he feels guilty for not doing much things for me when I've done so much for him. I tried reassuring him that he has been such a good boyfriend (he really is to me!) but he still seems confused, I don't know what to think of this but any thoughts, guys and girls?

I'd say take this experience as the ultimate compliment. Not many men would tear up with their girlfriend during their birthday talking about how he doesn't deserve their girlfriend. I think that he is really being sincere. I don't know what you can do about this. I don't think you should do anything about this since it is a good thing. Just keep being the amazing girlfriend that you are and I'm sure he'll be the amazing boyfriend that he is or can be. Good luck and best of luck in your endeavors!

He shouldn't be tearing up and using such sappy language (that's not exactly manly behavior), but it sounds to me like he just really appreciates you and doesn't want to make you feel like he's taking you for granted.
