Why do single girls wear rings on their ring fingers?

I've noticed that a lot of single girls wear a basic ring (not an engagement ring) on their ring finger all the time. Is there a reason for this? Do you realize that a lot of guys will back off because of that?

Guys, does the fact that a girl has a ring on her ring finger that doesn't look like an engagement ring stop you from hitting on her?

If you have a ring that you really like and want to wear, why not wear it on a different finger than the ring finger?

I wear my class ring on my ring finger because that's the one it's sized for. Some people have asked me if I'm engaged, but they realized afterward that it's clearly a class ring.

I don't really think anything of it when I put it on. My goal isn't to drive men away or to make people think I'm engaged. I'm just putting on a ring.

If I am wearing one it is to keep guys from hitting on me. Even when I was single if I wasn't in the mood to be social I would wear a ring. I wear one to the gym a lot because I hate being hit on when I am all sweaty and scary.

Some girls may use it as a device to keep guys from hitting on them.. but honestly if it doesn't look like a wedding ring or engagement ring.. just remember the ring finger is just another finger.. period.

i wear one on my ring finger because I have intentionally taken myself out of the dating scene and more then anything it is to remind myself that I am not looking. eventually I will probably take it off, but I am just going through a stage right now. it's just one of those personal decisions and honestly some guys do notice it, but most do not. lol.

I wear one because my mum gave me a beautiful ring for my 21st. no other reason besides that. And yes, I do know that some guys back off if they see a ring in there but I don't wear it to consciously repel men, I wear the ring because I like it.

I honestly just do it because rings are nice.. I personally get super surprised when a guy asks if I'm married or engaged...lolol
