How girls show signs of friendship vs. attraction?

This goes to the girls out there...

I'm not a big fan of becoming friends with girls that I'm attracted to. I usually show my intent and go from there. If they don't reciprocate, then I move on. Not a big deal. But...

What about reading "signs" from friends of mine that are girls. Sometimes I wonder if I should give the girls that are around me on a daily basis more of a chance.

SO the question is what are specific kind of "signs" that you give to your friend when you realize that you want to be more then just friends and did they work?

I have guy friends who I can literally "hang on", not because I'm being flirtatious but because I'm a very affectionate person. I tease them (verbally) about things and they tease back, I cuddle with them sometimes, sometimes they initiate the cuddle...I usually do this when I'm single, mind you.

There are problems with this though, I've had guy friends who think that "I'm flirting" or they end up liking me more so than friends. I tell them, "Your a friend, not a f***." which basically explains, "I view you as part of my family, not as a potential mate".

When I have been attracted to my friends, I just come out and say it, I don't wait around and "show signs of interest". I cut immediately to the chase, which is what most girls like anyway. We don't particularly like it when a guy is--how do you say, not being clear? We like forwardness. If a friend likes you, they're probably going to be more forward with you than "giving you the vibe". Friends trust friends, this is why forwardness works. If our directness fails, we move on, or sometimes people you know--don't.

I would expect your chick friends would have probably said something to you if they liked you.

True...I get what you are saying, but a lot of girls don't like to be direct in my experience. They don't want to embarrass themselves so girls usually use indirect communication. Also I feel likes it's harder for girls to be direct when they are friends with the guy because then it's even more awkward if the guy says "No".....right??

The thought does cross a young woman's mind. However, I would recommend commenting to your chick friends that if someone liked you, regardless of what the relationship is, they should feel free to be open about their feelings.

Rejection, as horrible as it can be, is a fact of life.

In truth it's very hard to tell the difference between a girl who just wants to be friends and wants to be more than friends. I guess really the only sign you can look for is if she gets nervous or uncomfortable around you for no apparent reason. Especially if you're used to her being so open and relaxed. BUT at the same time some girls are just easily embarassed and could act awkward for different reasons. I suppose also she'd act differently if you were dating another girl. Not necessarily jealous, but less enthusiastic yet still happy for you.

Sure we could just open up and be honest but I think sometimes its more complicated than that.

I'm in a similar situation, I like one of my guy friends however I don't have the guts to let him know verbally, per se.

There are things I do however that if one is looking for them one can see that I like him.

For example, whenever possible, I am around him. I often can't help looking at him more, and as juvenile as it seems, I tease him more than any other guy. In general, I talk to him more, look at him more and am more playful with him. I'm also more sensitive to what he says, like for example, if he starts talking about a hot film star I can't help but act jealous. He is the only guy I get jealous with.

Sometimes I will seem aloof, and try to ignore him, but never for too long, and only to see if he'd notice.

hmmh the way I see it, if ur JUST FRIENDS, you wouldn't be attracted to them in a sexual way and don't wanna date them or have a romantic relationship, that's what FRIENDS means..

if you don't feel that way about a girl then she's obviously more than a friend to you and you don't realize it yet...

and if you mean more than a friend to specific girl, she will flirt with you, and give you vibes and hnts she wants you as more then a friend
