Do guys get shy around girls they like or also around girls they know likes them?

There's this guy, who knows I like him, and he acts really nervous around me (for example, can't make eye contact, tries but then turns to floor quickly), but I can't understand weather it's because he likes me back, or he is just nervous around me cause he knows I like him, but he doesn't like me that way and he doesn't know how to react in my presents. He doesn't speak to me (only if I ask some casual question, he gives casual answer) just a little smile, which I also can't figure out weather it's shy smile or polite smile. Once I asked him does he like me, he just gave a sigh and said he is confused (as he was surprised I approached him) and can't give me answer right away. So now I am confused.

His answer to your question was pretty weird, I'd think he'd give you somthing more concrete.

Personally, I get nervous around girls who secretly have a crush on me too. It's almost like primal instinct, because us guys still want to hold onto what made us so high in value to them, that we overthink it and mess it up ourselves.

Also because girls have a groupthink mentality, so if we end up making a bad impression the whole group of friends hate you, so really...taking no risks in asking a girl out and not making a bad impression is a bigger movtivator than taking the risk and potentially get rejected. It's not a concious decision, just nature, that's why the guy probably isn't putting himself out there...

But if he keeps up this type of behaviour, he is going to potentially ruin his chances cause you'll lose attraction.

i'll be shy depending on how well I know my crush, if I know her well I won't be if I don't know her well I will be a little. If I know a girl likes be but I don't like her back, I will get a little shy around her because I'll try not to show any signs of intrest to lead her on.

I'm so confused. Then how can we girls firgure out weather shy guy likes you or not, if the signs are the same weather he likes, weather he don't. With outgoing guys it's all clear, but with those shy guys it's almost imposible to figure out. But I guess I have to go with if he doesn't start conversation or calling or texting he is just not interested, no matter shy or not shy...

Well if they like you they will probably laugh at your jokes, smile when looking at you, try to talk to you. if they don't like you they will try to avoid all of that.

I can't speak for all guys, but I know that I am really shy around girls that I know like me when I don't like them back. I act basically the same way as your guy seems to.

OK. I suppose you also try not to lead them on. How do you do that? Is not starting the conversation a sign he doesn't like me that way? And would you still glance at girl even though you don't like her like that but think she's pretty?

I avoid leading them on by trying to avoid eye contact when they attempt to make eye contact with me randomly and I try not to initiate conversations unless I absolutely have to. Yes, I do sometimes glance at girls when they like me, and I don't like them but think that they're attractive.

FrozenDonkey - i used to like this shy guy.. he would always look at me.. he started it.. staring etc.. smiling whenever we looked at each other etc.. we talked only for work.. i was 20 times more shy than him... one day i got courage to approach him and ask a question.. but i was very friendly... he was shocked and also seem embarassed.. does it mean he doesn't like me.. he got very embarassed and said "what are you doing".. i felt bad and left.. later he came and pressed my hand by an excuse for a fraction of second.. what does it mean?
