Why is my ex upset that I unfriended him on Facebook?

He broke up with me a few days ago because he was afraid of getting hurt. I did something a few months ago to damage his trust, and our relationship hasn't been the same since. Plus we had a few other problems. He said he is still very in love with me (and I know for a fact he was) but it just wouldn't work.
Anyways, I removed him as a friend on Facebook and he Texted me all upset a couple days later "why did you delete me? :'("
Why does he care so much if he's the one who broke up with me?

he probably wants to be able to see what you are up to. Personally if I broke up with someone or they broke up with me then don't want to try and make it work or even be friends with them. I never believed in being friends with an ex regardless if you were friends with him before or not. Oncce you see someone as more than friends then how can you go back to seeing them as just a friend. I am with you on this one. Hopefully in time he will get over it.

What did you do to damage his trust?

He was probably hoping you would use that opportunity to prove to him that it would work, regardless of whatever the thing was that broke his trust, instead you unceremoniously unfriended him, that's why he was upset...
