Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

This is a mytake of what I believe to be the best submissions so far ever in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

10. Raquel Pennington vs. Ashlee Evans Smith Bull Dog choke
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

While its no doubt female MMA has been growing on the rise. This is one of the best submissions I've ever seen in female and male MMA. Raquel pulled a very rare submission in Mixed Martial arts called a bull dog choke and did it while in a bloody fight first and put her to sleep. A very well executed submission.

9. Pablo Garza vs. Yves Jabouin Flying Triangle choke
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

Flying anythings in MMA is already rare enough and to be able to pull it off against the highest level of MMA fighters the UFC is even more seldom. This submission was well executed and props for Yves hanging in there in that choke for as long as he did.

8. Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch inverted triangle armbar
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

Former UFC middle weight champion Luke Rockhold although can be really known as a cock fighter does back up his trash talk most of the time. Also known as a striker he actually has a very under rated Jiu-jitsu game. Putting him in a triangle choke from side control and a Kimura at the same time...ouch.

7. Stefan Struve vs. Pat Barry Triangle (David vs. Goliath)
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

This is a time where Goliath really does just beat Dave. Pat Barry standing at 5'10 and weighing about the same as Struve both fighting at heavy weight. And Stefan Struve was standing at 7'0 tall. Despite the size difference it was actually a competitive match up until Stefan locked up the triangle choke, but even then Barry being the strong guy that he was able to manage to lift Struve up while in the submission all the way over his head and slam him. Unfortunately it was not enough.

6. CB Dollaway vs. Jesse Taylor Peruvian Necktie
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

Jesse Taylor was highly praised, but decided to make some stupid decisions in outside the house in the TUF season 7 house which put his career in danger. However Dana forgave him and gave him a chance unfortunately he did not win and lost to CB by a rare submission called the Peruvian Necktie.

5. Matt Huges vs. GSP Kimura to Armbar
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

This was a highly anticipated bout back in the UFC days. While these two would go on to have 3 total battles in the octagon in their trilogy bouts Matt Hughes the champion at that time won the very first match. Not only did he do it to retain his welter weight title but he did it from going to a kimura to a armbar and got the submission with just 1 second left in the round.

4. Charles Oliveira vs. Eric Wisely
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

The calf slicer a very rare submission to get in a Jiu-jitsu match even more rare in a MMA match. Yet Charles was able to pull it off. This submission is a lot more painful than it looks. As you can see the man wincing in pain.

3. Jon Jones vs. Lyoto Machida standing Guillotine choke
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

There is no doubt in most MMA fans mind's that Jon Bones Jones is the pound for best fighter on the planet. Coming into this title bout against Machida a lot of people including the media was questioning that he would not be able to deal with a striker like Machida, yet again he proved the media down. Jones has the most submissions in UFC light heavy weight history as well. He pulled off this deadly standing guillotine choke against Machida. Being the competitor and tough guy he is he refused to tap out and as a result he lost consciousness.

2. Frank Mir vs. Antonio Nogueira kimura back from the dead
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

Along with Frank Mir's other crazy submission highlight reels this was probably the coolest. This was their 2nd time fighting. Nogueira rocked Frank Mir badly up against the cage in clinches with heavy punches and Mir dropped like a sac of potatoes. The ref was really close from stopping the fight. with Nogueira punching away with ground and pound he got frustrated from the ref not stopping it. So he went for a kimura yet somehow Mir got on top and turned it on him while still stunned and pulls off an amazing Kimura. Mir became the very first man to knock him out and the very first man to make Nogueira submit.

1. Chang Sun Jung vs.Leonard Garcia Twister
Top 10 Best UFC Submissions of All Time

Also known as the Korean Zombie Jung is a very exciting feather weight to watch cause he is all about taking risks. And here in this highlight reel he shows it off once again. With pulling off impressive quick knockout victories and amazing submissions like this he has earned the number one spot. Twister submission is a very rare move invented by the legendary Eddie Bravo along with all the other amazing Jiu-jitsu movies Bravo has invented such as the rubber guard, omaplata, calf slicer, gogplata, different transitions such as invisible collar, and much more. This submission was pulled off with just 1 second left to go in the fight.
