Flu Shots Are Bullsh*t

OK, I'm 16 going on 17 and I have only received a flu shot maybe 5 times in my life. NO! I'm not conspiring against the government, I'm not running around with tin foil on my head saying the government is out to get me, I'm not crazy, I'm not high or drunk, and I don't take any drugs. Ok so I DON'T like needles so I only get a shot when I know I need it. For instance, I know I need a tetanus shot. Ok but on my day to day life I don't get sick very often. I get sick maybe 3 or 4 times a year on average and normally just a little 24 hour cold. You know stuffy nose, scratchy voice, cough, head ache, and so on, nothing too bad.

BUT EVERY TIME I GOT A FLU SHOT I would get sick 8 to 9 times a year on average and not just a little cold. I would have inhalers, nebulizers, horse pills, or would barf so much that I would start dry heaving.

AND has anyone wondered why the flu shot is free? I mean no other shot is free SO WHY IS THE FLU SHOT FREE?

Also, my family members who get flu shots get sick way more often than me. Coincidence? I think not.

Flu vaccines do NOT protect against infection and illness caused by other viruses that can also cause flu-like symptoms. There are many other viruses besides flu viruses that can result in flu-like illness also known as influenza-like illness or "ILI" that spread during the flu season. Flu vaccines are not catch alls. Each year, WHO and other organizations get together and try to predict which strain of the virus will effect the most on a particular year given certain patterns, and so the vaccine is given for that one strain, not all and it's not in general for every illness and disease present in the world.

Flu shots aren't BS, but they aren't miraculous impenetrable shields either. They aren't going to protect you against everything on the planet just because you got one shot. You're getting sick because germs and viruses and bacteria exist everywhere. Some people have stronger immune systems than others. You could have poor hand washing skills--touch the cart at the grocery store, don't wash your hands, eat, get sick---happens. If you're in school around tons of kids who also can get sick, it may be easier for you to get sick. So many reasons...

Myself and others are simply trying to educate you on the realities of taking the flu vaccine so that you don't erroneously attribute you allegedly getting sick more times with, than without the vaccine, to the vaccine alone. Many factors go into it. When you write something like this, people are going to respond to it, especially people in the know to try to help not only you but others to understand it so they can make their own informed decisions. There are growing sets of people who believe ALL vaccines are useless or BS and they endanger all of us, so a little education can go a long way.

I didn't say you said all vaccines are bad. My exact words were, there are growing sets of people who believe all vaccines are bad. The big picture is that hopefully you or at least others, now have a better understanding of the basics of how this and other vaccines work. You're going to get sick. Just a fact of life. If you never take another flu vaccine in your life, you are still going to get sick from time to time. Exposure rates, hygiene, your immune system, they all contribute. This is just a bit of fact. That is all.

I don't get flu shots. It's important to build up your natural immune system so avoid antibiotics and pills if you can and let your body do the work. Flu shots are for old people who are immune to most flush but because they are so old a new one might kill them or keep them in months.
Naturally I'm not suggesting you forgoe measles innuculations and such as there's a reason nobody gets things like polio, rubella and scarlet fever or would recognise the symptoms.

Ah not sure about the tea but the garlic yeah and of course veggies. At age 16 you don't need flu shots unless your immune system is screwed. Most times people don't need prescription medicine.

Anecdotal evidence is the very thing science has learned we can't rely on. "My friend has never seen evolution so it doesn't exist, my friend never got a flu shot and never got the flu so the flu shot is useless".
Your "story" might be true, but that isn't any kind of proof that flu shots don't work or aren't necessary. At your age flu shots aren't intended for you anyway. They are mainly for the elderly and young kids that are the most susceptible to the flu.

And have you ever heard the phrase "Correlation does not equal causation"? Just because you didn't get the flu shot and didn't get the flu does not mean that flu shots are bogus.

Once you have a Ph. D or MD in a legitimate scientific field you might understand how laughable this take was.

Well, mine isn't a typo and I still think the flu shot is helpful. Decades of biological medical research and a science that is supported by almost every hospital, insurance and pharmacy can't be wrong.

getting sick after getting a flu shot isn't proof that they don't work or anything else. Correlation does not equal causation. Nobody ever claimed they cured the flu or vaccinated the flu. If you listened to or asked the doctor he would have explained that they're not even meant to prevent the flu.
They shorten the length and reduce the severity of the flu. That's it.

Yeah, those shots are BS!! I know a lot of people who get them, and still get really sick!! I have a personal program that I follow when I start to feel like some MORONIC A$$HOLE comes to work, contagious, when they SHOULD STAY HOME!!!
I don't get sick very often, as I know a lot about Biology (and a degree) and I know how to counter the effects, if started early enough!!
That's the trick!! I have allergies, and sometimes I think it is an allergy, and I lose my 'window' to shut down the virus before I get really sick!! Stupid!! I should just assume it is a virus, because of the D-bags I work with that think their paper-pushing BS jobs are SOOOO VERY important!! They are not!! If they didn't come to work for a week, nobody would really miss them!
But they need to feel 'Needed' or 'Necessary' for the business to function, so they get the rest of us sick, because they are selfish, work-a-holic D-bags, that have no life, outside of that menial, mundane, and pointless job!!

I completely agree. I have a crippling fear of needles, I'm not proud to say, but I even scream and basically freak out when I am about to get a needle. Even when I was due to get two in October, I didn't because I freaked out so. Much.
I have never gotten the flu, and for the past 2 or 3 years I have been relatively healthy, albeit I've had colds, which are nonetheless extremely common and unrelated.

I don't think anybody like needles whoever likes them is mad the blood tests are the worse u have to watch them putting a needle in your hand and u can't move it cuz u might break it and it takes like forever to take them out at least that how it feels like
