Self diagnosed mental disorders? Doctors have been experimenting with mental health for literally over hundred years. Like, go watch the movie "awakenings" starring Robin Williams, great movie, really funny, based off of a real mental disease. ADHD is constantly being diagnosed by doctors, and if you think they're just going with the times then we can look at the research of doctors who performed lobotomies throughout the 1800s and early 1900s, even they diagnose these people with some form of mental hysteria where the brain doesn't operate normally. Our understanding of mental illness is growing every day because it is still not heavily understood.
To accuse of 'hating' is to miss the point completely. It simply shows your ignorance. I'm not denying ADHD or any mental illness, but this has gone from the rare case of actual mental illness to an epidemic of the majority having some kind of problem. Mostly I chalk it up to ineffectual parenting, and their offspring that are bred of victimhood. People are just sure there's something wrong with them when difficulty arrises, and it ALWAYS does.
Quit CHOOSING to be a victim. It just doesn't look good on you.
I agree with this in a way. This is coming from somebody who’s had it for 26 years. It was very harsh up until the last few years but if you educate yourself it can very very manageable. I think a lot of people are quick to self diagnose ADHD and I do not think that is okay. That discredits everybody who actually has it. I agree that people are always looking for an excuse as to why they have a hard time doing something. Just bloody lazy and weak people. If they knew what moderate-severe ADHD was like they would never fake having it.
@Browneye57 it's pretty simple to explain, as our understanding has grown, our ability to diagnose has grown, we used to only be able to diagnose extreme mental illnesses like the one from awakenings, now adays we are looking at smaller mental illnesses with lesser effects, so ADHD is a pretty hard one go diagnose most of the time, there are very extreme cases of it but most of the time it's effects can be easily overlooked, and if the person who has the disease is aware of it then they can usually hide the symptoms. This all means that ADHD is easy to miss, so chances are that a lot of people in the past did have ADHD, we just didn't understand what it was that caused them to be that way, so people with ADHD were typically just labelled as freaks and weirdos. In the 40s and 50s people were literally lobotomized for having mental illness, asylums started closing in the 60s, thank God, but like, this is a new thing that has constantly been changing as our unserstanding has grown, so I really don't get why you refuse to belief that these mental diseases are so prevalent.
I do agree that some people make up mental illnesses though, I often here people say that they have OCD or something, I think it's obvious what has happened there, most of our society think that people with mental health issues get special privileges so they try to take advantage of it, meanwhile people with actual mental illness typically hide it because they want to be normal. The solution seems pretty simple to me, if someone says something like that, suggest they get it checked out by a doctor, if they refuse and continue saying they have OCD or whatever then ignore them.
Sometimes there is something wrong with people, I agree that we need to see past the moments where we are at our lowest, but labelling mental illness as a victimhood complex is kind of insulting to people with genuine mental illness.
Choosing to be a victim? How can anyone choose to be a victim? Either you're a victim or not, you dont get to decide that. People can pretend to be victims, but that doesn't make them victims. As for me, I've never chosen to be a victim. Ik you dont care about my life story but I've never been tested for mental illness, throughout my childhood all my teachers wanted me medicated on Ritalin becauae I was too much work and they felt certain I had ADHD, my mother didn't want me tested because she feared that I would be victimized over it. The only question in my mind when I found out that they wanted me medicated was whether it was ADHD or autism as I've shown a lot of symptoms for both, as I've also had a lot of social issues. As I've grown, I've begun thinking that I probably have both, but I refuse to label myself with it, part of me still wants to think I'm just normal, to the point that the idea of being tested, now fills me with fear. I know I don't look good as a victim, but pretending to not be a victim seems to be more toxic than accepting the truth.
@Tonythecreator they dont even fake it, that just don't understand how serious it is, it's like people thinking they have OCD because they have a few habits. They're making a mountain out of a molehill, but in that case I think the best answer if to just give them a little push and tell them to go get tested, if they refuse to be tested but continue talking about it constantly then ignore them, or call them out on their BS, up to you.
I rest my case. If you have a legitimate mental health issue then seek professional care.
My comments have NOTHING to do with a real and genuine condition. This place if FULL of self-diagnosed mental cases and victims - people that are just sure they're a victim from something. It's like a fad. Just take a quick look around. This is the generation of meltdowns, safe spaces, and hate-speech. Adversity is intolerable. Just look at the comments right here!!
Look bruh, you can whine about adversity all you want but I wasn't attacking you, I was trying to start open discourse/dialogue/debate. To put this another way, I'm not the one melting down about how no one accepts my opinions, you are. So which of the two of us is in favor of adversity?
You must be very lonely, old man... I can't help myself to feel sorry for you and your offenses... careful or your funeral will be emptier than a vegan's plate.
Don't waste your little feelings on me honey, I surely don't need it. And I surely don't need your approval. Your level of self importance is beyond the pale, absurd even. You think you know something but you just don't. We're done here, all you whiners can commiserate together, just leave me out of it. IDGAF.
And I'll have more at my funeral than you, it's coming up soon. Several thousand. Save your shaming tactics for another day silly girl. LOL You know absolutely nothing about me.
Look at you and your age, you should be so much wiser and liked. But you are here, trying to make someone you don't know to feel bad. You are not a good person or must be heavily damaged.
Now I feel sorry for you. You are not mean, you are just lonely.
That's very similar, isn't it? Like if someone who doesn't need it takes it, they might well end up out front vacuuming the driveway or cutting the lawn with a pair of scissors? :)
I could see that. Adderall does work for ADHD, but has an awfully high abuse potential, because damn was it fun to abuse once in a while (years ago). That stuff was like an alternate currency to a few people I used to know, lol.
To chime in, it's basically long lasting cocaine, I've used it before and used to sell extra when I was in college, I still have adderall 30mgs if I ever need them lol, especially on add
I did saw someone cutting the lawn with scissors. At first I smile but then you get sad. Cuz man we don't know if the person can't afford to purchase a lawn mower and HOA is on their as* or be fined. If I ever see a person cutting with scissors I swear I ma give my mower away. I have plenty of them I had fixed. I was thinking selling them but now days few people have lost their jobs. Can't afford paying lawn guy so is best to give away.

Someone to admire 🤜🤛💋
Wow, that is a lot to deal with
You have no idea!
To many ADHD individuals have problems with taking responsibility for themselves and their actions something they had toin the past to survive.

Growling. Actually growling. Like a deinonychus. Or Yutyrannus. Or Nanotyrannus. Or the Reaper of Death
No simple answer but one guarantee does exist. Your efforts will be rewarded. Never give up and stay hunger for knowledgable fam.

I know how to deal with ADHD
Good for you! I hope I helped a little bit!

Ah, more self-diagnosed mental disorders. The populous is going nuts.
Evidently 40% of women over forty on are some kind of anti-depressant.
What is amazing is how people buy into all this bullshit. And industry that has created itself.
... You don’t think ADHD is real?

Don't worry guys... the old man is a hater LOL

Having ADHD is not being a victim. Apparently, the ignorant one here is not me.

I totally agree. And I'd love to know more about your story some day

Goodbye sir.
Adderall ! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!
Note - I do not have ADHD, and in no way officially endorse taking that med if you do not have ADHD. :)
I don't take Adderal. I use Venvanse.
That's very similar, isn't it? Like if someone who doesn't need it takes it, they might well end up out front vacuuming the driveway or cutting the lawn with a pair of scissors? :)
It's not a strong medication so, no. Sorry to ruin your dreams LOL

It's just a excuse I had adhd but it's dumb and everyone can do it.
I think I have it
How can I know if I have this?
There are many tests online but the official, only with a professional
Awesome...
