I don't think we should promote unhealthy extremes one way or the other. Is this like reverse weight-ism or something?
To be fair the lady on the top could have a thyriod problem where thy eat like one cracker and gain 12 pounds
I am 5'7 and 140 ish
your weight is actually healthy for your height
meh, I could make do with less
It's funny how many people think if you are skinny you have problems fuck society. I am skinny and fuck you I eat 6 eggs a day, lift heavy and hardly weight a pound.
Be who you want to be! and don't JUDGE!!!
weight I mean gain ***
The medical care costs of obesity in the United States are high. In 2008 dollars, these costs were estimated to be $147 billion. The annual nationwide productive costs of obesity obesity-related absenteeism range between $3.38 billion ($79 per obese individual) and $6.38 billion ($132 per obese individual) source CDC
I dont want to pay for preventable things in my health insurance premiums.
Curvy women have always been attractive; societal acceptance (which comes and goes like the tide) is allowing more people to openly admit they like a more feminine looking woman than was previously "cool" to admit. Just my 2 cents.
As long as the person is healthy, what's the problem? Being too thin or too fat is unhealthy. That's all I'm going to say.
What you’re reading as “glorifying obesity” is more “defying the cultural norm that says that every woman’s goddamn priority in life should be trying to look like a supermodel”.
Like, you’re so far off point it’s not even funny.
Honestly, glorifying obesity isn’t what annoys me. People are free to make their own choices and if they choose to eat too much then that’s their decision. What annoys me is how glorifying obesity often turns into shaming skinny women.
There's a difference between advocating body positivity and promoting obesity. Learn it.
All of those obese women calling themselves beautiful isn't body positivity. It's glorification of obesity. Body positivity, on the other hand, means you love your body enough to not abuse food or use it to numb your emotions.
Lol so basically girls shouldn't feel good about themselvws unless they fit your strandard of beauty? Lol girl take your anonymous irrevelant opinion elsewhere. Newsflash, not every woman can be a size 4. Not all can genetically and not all WANT to. There are plenty of "bigger" people who are also healthy. Humans are different. We are not meant to all look one way, that's the beauty of us. I'd rather not have all women look like cardboard copies of Kate Upton, though she's beautiful with her own body. Stay in your own lane of body shaming, while other, rational women who support and love each other encourage each other to love the body they're in and to not starve themselves to fit someone else's image of "beauty". Good day.
Obese women calling themselves gorgeous and empowered is not advocating "body positivity". Women need to understand the health risks that come from being over weight. Not "embrace" their fatness.
You're bashing women's bodies and contradicting yourself.
No, I'm not.
I'm not going to argue over fact that you are, so say what you please it won't matter. Also, what culture are you even speaking for? Your "ideal" isn't universal.
Every Body type is perfectly ok as long as you are healthy. Also the lady in the bottom photo is not big enough to be considered obese.
she is in my opinion.
And yet you know nothing about her she could be perfectly healthy and fit or be unable to lose weight for medical reasons why judge.
"she might be fit".
In no world is this woman fit. In fact, I've never seen anyone less athletic in my life.
There is such a thing as fat and fit so yes she might be fit. And no it is not bullshit.
Just set healthy and exercise but do no make yourself throw up. There are women who are not meant to be skinny that eat healthy and exercise. Just work on being healthy.
The 90's called and they want you back. Everybody wanted to be anorexic, unhealthily-overdone, orange and dreamt of fake tits back then.
Nowadays, my friend, men want real women with curves, the way they were supposed to be.
Every woman is real... what the fuck do curves have to do with it?
And, all men want different things thank you very much
God how i hate people who say men want real women with curves you sound ridiculous... 😑
actually i like the last girls' body. she's sexy. no rolls of fat whatsoever
obesity is officially an illness now.
i think high blood pressure is on of the most avoidable causes of early/sudden death
... check out buzzfeeds video about the change in ideal women body types. "Obese" girls have been since the ancient civilizations
Yes. I saw the video. But these women were royalty, and didn't really do much except for sit around being rich and eating all day.
Thickness was more of a sign of being well-fed back then. Now It's an unhealthy fad. Plus, they never had McDonalds in ancient Greece lol
Yeah but what I'm trying to say is that body type isn't a new fad. It's been a trend for quite some time now.
The difference between then and now is that back then medicine wasn't as advanced and they thought obesity was a sign of a healthy fed individual, when in actuality obesity can cause a lot of health issues.
Having a fat trend it today's world is just pandering to the lazy fast food eaters, who can't stop themselves from stuffing their faces, then crying about being judged.
Yes, I agree.
I see and I agree that obesity is unhealthy but I don't really know if this is a trend. The market for women with these body types is a niche not the norm. I wouldn't call it a trend but maybe a fashion subculture. I don't think that the women the asker uploaded were fatally obese though. That could be their body type and I'm sure that they do exercise to maintain their weight. I'm not saying all women should aspire to be that curvy but it's one of beautiful body types that women come in. I do respect and appreciate your opinions @asker and @masked sanity but if a woman who is that size and proud of her body despite being thought of as fat, who are you or even who am I to say that they shouldn't be this way and instead lose this much weight. It's their body not yours or mine. If they aren't critically obese and can still walk around, exercise (maybe not to the intensity you expect but still), do daily tasks without help and live an independent life style, what's wrong with them?
Sorry meant to type @MaskedSanity not @masked
Also sorry I think I've degreed from the topic but my comment was in response to this sentence "It seems in this generation that the "ideal" body type is gettting bigger." It sounds as though that body type is only now garnish attention which in actuality it has been one that was admired throughout the years. However, the amount of people it appeals to has fluctuated depending on the fashion trend, which includes body type, of the time period
Thank you, I'm tired of fat women thinking they're on par with Curvy women.
:) All women are beautiful, as long as they're a healthy weight. Anorexia/obesity are just as bad :(
I really don't care. Fat people aren't a majority. It's their challenge and issues. Not mine to take and tell them what to do.
The first picture , that woman is not FAT. She is just voluptous and fleshy. Abit larger than slim but that's not a health RISK.
Anorexia is a mental health condition; not a term used to describe everyone who's underweight.
I know...
My best friend is anorexic.
Sorry (not sorry), but that first lady is way more attractive to me than all those athletic women with visible abs and no hips.
Cool.
Not.
Sorry for having my own opinions.
Not sorry.
I agree.
