Guys and girls, how many (correct) push-ups can you do?

I don't do push-up sets until failure, so I couldn't really say how many I do maxing out in one go. I really only do them for warmups before my workouts, anymore. But the last time I did a chunk of push-ups, I did 50 to warm up, and then did another 80 to get some burn in my arms and chest.

The only other big set I did was in high school when I bet my social studies teacher (he was also the track coach) that I could do 100 pushups without getting up or touching the floor with anything but hands and toes. I only weighed like 120 or so back then, so it's not like I had a whole lot of weight to push anyway. But I did them, and even earned a free pass on the assignment that day (as well as his respect lol) :D

I'm in the Army. Never did them until I dropped before but on my PT test the most I've ever done was 72 in 2 minutes. These are all correct military pushups in 2 minutes. This question has many variables to take into consideration because not everyone does proper pushups.

Oh cool. my parents are in the army too, but mom can 't do any push-ups and my dad I think can do like 40 in 2 minutes, om good days

Yea all these guys saying they can do 100+ are more than likely doing them incorrectly. Even here in the Army, guys who can do that many are very few and far between.

I had a fitness test last year, and that was the last time I did as many push ups as I could at one time.
Back then it was 40. Now I can probably do more.

As mentioned by the Anonymous who got the MHO, when I did my specialist selection it was particularly brutal. During PT and selection course we were doing roughly 70-85 in 2 mins, I did not keep track because the training was brutal but necessary as the field proved. After a bit in the field, I did some time as an Instructor and we looked for the bare minimum of 57 in 2 minutes, however the average was between 73-86. And just for the record, this is not basic training, this is for a specialist unit.

No idea how many exactly, I've never gone
till I couldn't do any more at all.

I don't go about endurance training in this manner
I do about 45-50 in one go, then stop and do another
exercise, then continue, alternating between
different exercises.

I'm more about adaption and explosive strength
in this type of exercise. ^.~

than I mentioned though.. ^.^

That's a great question and I honestly don't know. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Lauren2410. I guess I'm just going to have to try it and find out, now won't I? And keep trying until the number (whatever that may be) improves.

20 push-ups or sit-ups is usually what I get in. Then after my muscles recover I'll keep doing sets of 10 until I give out. I don't work out anymore though to be honest, only did like 80 sit ups one day last week that way.

My last physical fitness test I managed to crank out 108 before the time ran out. I'd say that's pretty good.

I've been 3 sets of 30 on my chest day. Push ups are useless exept they build endurance and pumps your chest muscle tissues up for getting worked up.

If it helps, I bench 440 for two reps :-p mirin O. P?

No not joking i have done 130 at one go.
I can do 50 pull ups at 1 go.
When i don't hit the gym , i do 100×8 pushups.
And 100×5 squats.
And i don't count crunches.
