371 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I wouldn't say I am naturally upbeat, as in I do not walk around with a big grin on my face and feel all happy-go-lucky about everything. However, I would consider myself to be a happy person, I don't get sad about much or really anything. If I do get "sad" I'm happy within a few hours.
I think part of it might be that I demonstrate "calloused-unemotional traits" (like a psychopath) and as such I am really rational and stupid things don't get me upset because I see the big picture XP
How about yourself?023 Reply- +1 y
Depends which group or person I'm hanging out.
what are these calloused unemotional traits? pls share, dude. - +1 y
I do walk around with a grin or smirk sometimes
- +1 y
Well calloused unemotional traits are associated with psychopathy. These people are lacking in social emotions like love, grief, remorse etc. Emotions like anger and happiness are still felt because those are necessary for living, the others are societal and help us live together as a group (forgoing things like theft, or sexual promiscuity for the sake of the group)
I don't get sad at the ending of a relationship or even the death of those close to me. I like it because I can see that those emotions hurt people but it can hurt my social relations as people think I am being mean or insensitive. Even though I haven't told my mom about it she is starting to see it and is getting upset. - +1 y
Nah i just see you as an emotionally controlled person. No big deal.
- +1 y
Do you get furiously angry?
- +1 y
I still remembered you in gag, ages ago about talking dislike for fat people. :D
- +1 y
Not really, as I dont have some of those social emotions I don't get angry at some things that drive others insane cheating and the like, it pisses me off because it negates the social contract but personally I'm just like fuck you to the person (girls in my case). I appreciate you trying to see the better in me "emotionally controlled" but I'm not too upset about it. I share 90+ percent commonality with psychopaths for lack of emotions but very low when it comes to narcissism or behavioral aspects ( meaning i dont have the emotions but I dont see the need, or pleasure in hurting others intentionally). Oddly when I feel somewhat relieved because when I was younger I thought I was "broken" or a "freak" not having emotions and would beat myself and take drugs to either punish myself (for not feeling) or in the case of drugs attempt to feel something. Now that I realize it is likely just a result of my aberrant psychology I don't mind and can more or less count myself lucky.
- +1 y
Lol, I don''t have a "dislike" of fat people I just think that it is unhealthy. I hope they become healthier just like chronic drug abusers etc. I dont judge them for their life choice (be free to do whatever you want with your own body) but I still think people should be honest with them and not coddle them.
- +1 y
If you were really a psycho path, you would have killed already. Those labelling was used to class criminals in diff categories. Otherwise you're still normal to me by the way you sound here in gag. You would be god for a combat team in a war torn country. I know you wrote you're going to be the military in near future. Is that still in the plans?
- +1 y
Dude, they can't control their thyroids. I think its karma some people get fat so bad they overtake their living room or lounge. Their addictions got better of them. Its just a loser and winners game. Something's can't be prevented. They knew better but still took the worst route
- +1 y
Psychopathy makes up a stable portion of any population and tends to be beneficial for those who have it. There is just a negative social stigma about it because many serial offenders are classified as such. Many of the CEO's and otherwise important social figures appear to share traits associated with psychopathy. Just because one doesn't have emotions doesn't mean they want to or have to hurt others. They are just believed to have a higher propensity because they don't feel remorse for their actions
- +1 y
I would nt use all those pyschopath talk to describe people of your nature. You just have a natural higher tolerance to overcome emotions, that some people can't naturally turned off or have to face. Tends to occur in rigid societies that values technology and innovation or traditions.
- +1 y
One of my teachers has a thyroid condition and takes medication and she isn't obese or really even fat in my opinion. I can agree though that some of it is genetics based and that sucks, but the OVERWHELMING majority of it is a result of childhood (parents not teaching, not having access to information or healthy food)
- +1 y
The fat ones that die.. Or have to be moved by a moving van... Theyre over emotional.
- +1 y
Hmm maybe, although like I said psychopaths make up a steady portion of any society. They are born (biological differences) and can come from any race, economic or social status. Also it isn't that I "overcome" them I just don't experience them, but thanks for the input I'll look into it!
- +1 y
Ill reword it. Some people have to learn to overcome it. You don't. Its a natural instinct of yours to "process" it faster. Notice i said i said process? That's what you do. Others have to microscopically work at it to literally get "over" it. Lol. Oh wait. Maybe you're just like bill gates. Maybe you got asperger's. Just a thought since you used a label on yourself.
- +1 y
I don't really use the "term" on myself normally as a scientist I say " I demonstrate strong psychopathic tendencies particularly in the realms of calloused-unemotional traits." I think self-diagnosing results in a lot of bad stuff. Also those emotions arose for a reason, survival. Those emotions were key to the survival of the human species and without them we likely would've never rose to be the predominant species on earth. I don't think that people should or attempt to "overcome" these emotions especially since they make a lot of people happy and feel a sense of belonging.
- +1 y
Ok you're right there. But i don't see them as psychpathic traits. ::P
I'm talking about the need to express pain like going through break up or dealing with death etc - +1 y
Oops i accidently downvoted. Sorry.
i still rather say you got it emotionally keeping together. Too much categorising going on in this world. I'm simplisitic in seeing things like this. people are low, weak, medium or strong :). That's all to it. You seem to like to get scientific. - +1 y
Lol I was wondering what I said that deserved the downvote XP maybe you'd be interested in this question of mine www.girlsaskguys.com/.../q1247257-would-you-be-willing-to-take-a-personality-test I added a personality test about psychopathy. And yeah, I love science, especially in the realm of psychology. I'm hoping to get my PSY. D (phd in psychology)

579 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. YES haha, it's ridiculous. I smile even when I'm miserable. I don't even mean to! One day, I got overheated at work and passed out, and I still felt a little sick when I stopped at the store on the way home. I didn't even realize I was smiling until the guy at the deli asked me what I was so happy about, haha.
Life is just so much more enjoyable when you're happy! It's silly to let the little things bother you. I am alive, I have food and shelter, and I am loved. Everything else is just details. :)01 Reply- +1 y
I have that habit of smiling no matter what unhappy state I'm in.

+1 yI am naturally upbeat and happy - although I suffer from depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder, I have this defense mechanism where when I am around other people, I seem to be super happy when in reality I am far from it.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yYou took away the two things that do make me happy, while I'm drunk or stoned at least! lol. No, I'm not. People think I am because I hide my problems with humor and loquaciousness ha. I feel like life will be mostly painful and unhappy and then you die. But sometimes I experience fleeting moments of intense joy, sometimes they are simple pleasures. Other people take them for granted. Those moments are what keep me going.

Don't tell me its cos you're ugly, lonely or depressed
Opinion Owner+1 yNa, I've been through those phases, they're self indulgent bullcrap. Depression and bi-polar are like fashion accessories these days. Wallowing in self pity only makes shit worse and it's a cop out. I can't put my finger on what actually makes me unhappy, but I know what does make me happy and I go after that, even if it ain't easy sometimes. Everybody has their own shit to deal with. I am no different! lol
- +1 y
Hmm what about people bailing on you or being selfish and inconsiderate out of the blue
Opinion Owner+1 yIt's a kick in the bollocks that I probably take to heart more than other people, or used to anyway. It's easy to play the victim and sit around wasting life, I'm not gonna get self righteous about it, but it took me a long time to realize all these things and I'm catching up, as I do I spend less time being pissed off, but I still wouldn't say I'm happy or upbeat! lol
- +1 y
Don't deny your inner child has feelings too or reactions to most things.
Opinion Owner+1 yerm, explain? You mean immaturity being the cause of problems? Sulking and shit? Yeah, I feel that. But the more you think and bitch about it the worse you feel, it knackers your motivation and isolates you socially. I used to go through patches of anger being a driving motivator and I actually got places whilst hiding it, but being angry is exhausting and you can't keep it up and eventually the mask slips anyway. I'm saying I used to a lot, I'm not some reformed miracle who overcame adversity! lol. I'm more stable these days and more experienced.

Are you English?
Opinion Owner+1 yYeah
I'm pretty ok. Not always happy, but... content. I usually feel pretty depressed because I've had lots of crap going on lately, but aside from that I'm a pretty upbeat-ish person
