To live or let die?

Scenario , you fall I'll or have an accident that dictates the only way you live is on life support.
Case # 1 you will live on life support for the rest of your life.
Case #2 you stay on life support for a lengty amount of time (3 - 6 months) but will NEVER be able to care for your self ( dress, feed , bath , ) in a manner that allowed you to live a life with dignity.
If you knew what your chances were that you would end up in this condition would you have wanted to be out on life support to begin with?

I don't care about my dignity , just keep me alive

I don't want to live a life that I can't enjoy.

I don't want to be a burden on my family or friends so I chose no life support

Steven Hawkins is an awesome example of one mans choice to not give up. But is this anyone else's out look?

At the rate of medical advances today, I'd prefer to remain on life support. There IS a realistic possibility of recovery. Plus, if the projections of nanotechnology in medical applications prove to be realistic, they offer significant hopes of recovery and even reversal for a vast array of conditions.

I am with you. I would be in a personal hell if I became less Mobil than I am now regardless as to what else there would be to do in that condition. I wouldn't be me anymore , but a shell of whom I was

Well a great physicist is okay with his. Do not see why I could not with mine. I can still maintain dignity and still contribute to society. It would just be in a different way than others.
