Why are tall girls seen as masculine? Insecure about my height?

For some reason, I saw tons of pictures on FB saying "Tall women are only considered "handsome"
And tons of guys were saying how they preferred short girls. This makes me sad because I'm just over 5'8 :(
I HATE my height because I'm not seen as "feminine" in most people's eyes. Why?

Self-esteem is feeling low because I know for a fact most people prefer petite women. Sucks to be me I guess!

Singers Taylor Swift and Mandy Moore are both 5'10" - I consider that approaching the beginning of the "tall" category for females. Maria Sharapova is 6'2", Uma Thurman is 6′0", Claudia Schiffer is 5'11", Nicole Kidman is also 5'11. Yvonne Strahovski is the shortest of these women, being 5'9".

So tell me again how you hate being 5'8"...

5'8" is the starting point of tall for girls. The upper tall range starts around 5'10"-5'11".

Where are you from? You must not live in a area with lots of tall people. Even where I live, I occasionally see a few guys my height or taller (6'2"-6'4") and some who tower me (6'5"+).

I am 5'8 and I have to admit that in past I used to have insecurities about my height, because I was taller then most of the guys. Now most of the guys are taller then me and I am very self confident with my height! I also see daily many beautiful women who are taller then me!
Trust me being tall is beautiful and guys love these long legs!
There are plenty of guys who prefer tall girls! And tall girls are only masculine if they are overweight!

I think it's more that we make men feel less masculine and they don't like that, lol. But overall it depends entirely on how you dress. If you dress in a feminine way or even a bit tomboyish with lots of feminine touches it's great.

I understand how you are feeling. I'm 6'1" so you're not as tall as me, but you're still taller than average (at least where I live). I know it would be real nice to experience being short and cute and having guys lift us off our feet, but we need to just deal with what we got! 😃

I'm 5'11" and love to wear high heels. At times I am rocking a 6'4" height because of my shoes. You can be tall & still be seen as fem. If you like to wear satin, lace, dresses, heels, etc., it will add to the fem look you want. If people can't accept your height, it is their problem, not yours. If you own it & show you're confident with your height, guys heads will turn. It's confidence & how a woman carries herself that attracts guys, not so much the tiny frame.

In Canada, the average woman is 5'4, and the average man is 5'9. So, I'm half an inch shy of most males.

I don't know what part of Canada your from, you should come to Toronto women are like 165 cm + and men are 172 cm +.

Did you know most female models are between 5'8-5'10. I'm 6'3 and 5'8 is like the perfect height for me. You're still below the average for men at least in the U. S. which is 5'9. And there's nothing "masculine" about being 5'8. I think it's a great height for girls. Shorter girls make kissing them when we're standing up difficult. You shouldn't need to feel insecure about it.

I can never wear heels
In public places, I find myself taller than most grown men.
I was bullied for being a stick in middle school-9th grade (I ate tooons of food and never gained weight)
Pants are always too short (at least short women can get them hemmed, I can't make fabric appear)
Legs are very awkwardly long compared to other girls
The amount of available guys is reduced my half
Usually, tall women don't have big boobs or butts because they have little body fat

Ok so from your profile pic you don't look too skinny and your bosom doesn't look too small. Believe me I'm a guy you are attractive. Many girls refuse to date guys less than 6'(which is really shallow but oh well). So if you go after guys that many of those girls go after you'll be still shorter even when you wear heels. If you are taller than the guys in your area that is rare since you are still shorter than the average guy. Many women would kill to have what you have.

My mom is 5'11, and her husband (my step-father) is 5'8.
I don't think women really care if the guy is slightly shorter. I do think that the guy cares about being taller than his girlfriend though.

Just find a guy who is 5'11 or taller that way you can wear heels and still be shorter than him while you're together. There's plenty of tall guys and they'll probably approach you. I think you're more blessed than you are cursed in regards to your physical appearance. Embrace who you are which is an attractive person who has the same stature as super models.

A lot of guys like short girls. Its cute. Tall girls can be stunning though. I have not heard tall girls as handsome or masculine. tall girls should accentuate their long legs as it is one of their best assets. short girls can't do t have that and can't compete. Play to your strengths. Tall girl can own a room when she walks in if she plays to her strengths. Google up models and actresses that are your height and see what they wear and how they do it.

Being tall is seen as a masculine feature though, that's why people say that. Hearing things like "wow, you're tall, you're like a dude" or "you're as tall as a guy" is not exactly flattering (those are just things people have said to me though). It's worse for the ones who have a small butt and small boobs because that's more noticeable on a bigger frame.

It sucks when you already feel awkward, lol. I was one of the unfortunate ones who got picked on in high school because of it and it affected me for a few years afterwards. I got over it when I grew into my body and my looks, but I always try to help people see the other side of things.

I think it's kind of the same with short guys. Being short/small is generally a feminine thing.

And I think it is better for too-tall girls to be a little bit (more) muscular, because if they are as slim as the "normal-height" girls, they will look sick.

small waist

Not to mention, women are biologically programed to be more choosy. We need to be careful who we decide to have children with, because once you get pregnant- there's no turning back. The genes are already there.
