Can I recreate hot yoga at my house by just dressing warmly?

I've fallen in love with hot yoga, but it's expensive! What can I wear to simulate hot yoga at home?

Seriously though, I think that using a space heater in a small room might prove better. Did you know that in Japan, there is martial arts training that does this? They would place burners around the room to make it very hot and then practice.

i think that the clothing would restrict you. You also want the temp to be upwards of a hundred, I believe. You won't get that with clothing.

Yeah I guess it's possible. You could start with a base layer made for skiing. Then throw on some sweat pants and a fleece that zips up like a turtleneck. Then just a layer to trap the heat, like a track suit or something like that. Good luck!

Sauna suit, maybe? Or just clothing you'd typically wear outside during winter, but not too bulky or you will limit your flexibility. You could also buy a space heater and use it in the room you plan on doing the yoga in. Just don't forget to unplug it when you're done

thanks! I don't have a sauna suit, but like someone said up above, I can wear my ski outfit. I have ski pants and jacket that are really warm but still let me be flexible. Think that would have the same effect as hot yoga?

There's nothing you can wear. The heat is turned up so that your muscles are warm - this is supposed to make you more flexible. Putting on clothing will make you less flexible due to the bulk.

No. You're misunderstanding. Hot yoga requires a hot room.

No. It's not the same and never will be. Either you suck it up and pay for the classes or you crank the heat in your house. Clothing won't do it.

ok thanks for your reply! Two other girls suggested winter clothes, like snow pants and a winter coat. I have a ski outfit that's super warm and flexible... won't that create the same temperature?

Hot yoga isn't about the sweating. It's about the increased flexibility. You will *not* be able to simulate that with clothing.

You don't need to layer it on at home. It's summer! Just go outside in the afternoon to do yoga. God know it's hot enough lately

yeah good idea, but I want it really hot, like hot yoga is almost a sauna! Plus I like to do it without strangers staring at me :)

Oh yeah that's a good point about people staring haha. I feel like it won't work with a lot of clothes because it'll be really bulky and it's hard to be flexible with that much stuff on. Another idea is maybe locking yourself in the bathroom and turning on the hot water. There will be a ton of steam and warmth

Well In my head I'm seeing snow pants and a puffy jacket. I'm not sure what else would give the the same temperature you know? But since it is summer , maybe a thicker sweatshirt would do the trick?
