I can't swallow pills, I'm 17 years old, and I need to learn, any suggestions on how I learn?

I have a toothache, and I have advil pills, but I can't swallow them.. I know it's kind of dumb that I can't but it's time to learn lol

Take a gulp of water to wet your throat and swallow.
Put your tablet right at the back of your throat on your tongue. Take a gulp of water and tip your head back. Sometimes the tablet moves but you'll feel it move back in line to your throat.
If you can, cut the tablets in half while you are learning.

Just relax. If you're tense - which you probably are - they won't go down smoothly but will graze your mucus membrane or your throat will clench around it causing pain.

Relaxing while watching a show or something will help - not thinking about it. Drink it with milk - helps the process.

Do you know that feeling when you eat a cookie, but don't crunch it down all the way, and you wash it down with a drink? It's like that. Put a pill in the back of your mouth and just pretend it's leftover unchewed food you're washing back with water. It's all mental. :)

Just take a huge gulp of water with the pill and you'll be able to swallow it. I used to struggle with it... Just take big mouthful of liquid. Maybe use orange juice or some other flavored drink to make it easier.

Mind over matter buddy. Fill your mouth up with water, pop those pills in, and swallow. Your inability is all in your head. You can do it if you tell yourself you can.

I taught myself by first swallowing Nerds (the candy). When I mastered that, I started swallowing Tic Tacs. After I mastered that, I was able to swallow pills.

Sometimes I put the pills in top of a spoonful of pudding or something and take them that way to make it easier.

My mom always had a problem swallowing pills. She eats a banana and when she's about to swallow she pops the pill and swallows it with the chewed up banana. Makes it way easier for her to swallow pills.

And if those are pain pills, you really aren't suppose to crush them. That could make you sick. I guess you can cut it in half though

The way I learned was i cut the pills in half and swallowed them. Then i got used to it now i can take the whole thing. Maybe try that? Hoped this helped.
