You have two questions and one poll..
Anyways. "All time high" HELL NO. it's not stopping!
VERY RECENT (November 2015) data from CDC.
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db219.htm
www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db219_fig5.gif
I'd also answer YES to the second question. Here are some issues.
1. Prevalence of fitness magazines that cater to FAT women by having "fat" athletes. This is no doubt normalization of being overweight/obese. The word of being an athlete is trashed now that "everyone can be..." movement came along.
1.5 Everyone is beautiful.. Plus is Equals? Every body is good? If everyone is of a quality then there's no longer any significance to that quality. People lap this shit up and don't recognize the repercussions. It definitely sounds nice on the surface but it's obvious who benefits most. The ones who have never put hard work into a trait/quality. Who does it piss off the post? The ones who have spent their entire life for that quality.
2. A person's self-esteem is so treasured in this culture, it's considered harassment to criticize someone for their legitimate faults. "safe-spaces" especially tumblr (try searching "skinny", now try searching "fat" on tumblr) doesn't help.
3. "Man-spreading" is enough to warrant a ticket/fine but being obese and fat spilling out is not? For airline seating, customers pay the same seats but have to live with fat spilling over?
4. You can get disability for being obese? Now you're given priority parking and scooters at every supermarket! Talk about feeding the elephant in the room.
5. People honestly believe there are medical conditions/genetic factors into being overweight/obese. The variance of bone mass and metabolic rate between human beings aren't so significant to cause overweight/obese. It took millions of years for homo sapiens to have come up by evolution and fat people are not of a different species. Conditions like PCOS/hypothyroidism does make weight control more difficult but it isn't impossible. When people make the excuse of saying PCOS/hypothroidism is the reason why they are fat, ultimately they are saying they have given up to the difficulty and not facing it. Similarly with metabolism. They always claim "BAD" metabolism as if one's metabolic rate is set in stone.
Cry victim enough and people have actually believed you. "There's nothing so absurd that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it." Especially when no one CARES enough to fact-check.11 Reply

+1 yNutrition and Fitness is foreign to so many people. I spend too much time answering basic nutrition questions to people IRL, like that juice has as much sugar as soda, and why white bread is unhealthy.
in my opinion the underlying issues are: TV, unhealthy food is pervasive, office jobs, stress, and tons of shitty lifestyle and food choices.02 Reply- +1 y
How long did it take for you to get that muscular and have you ever taken steroids?

I started lifting at age 17, and never. Just a shit load of quality food and hard work man.
+1 yHealthy food is expensive; unhealthy food is cheap.
There are fast food restaurants everywhere.
Snacking habits. In some European countries, snacking on bread is more of the norm, which fills you up faster and ends up being less calorie inducing than less-filling things like chips, sweets, etc.43 Reply- +1 y
macronutrients have no bearing on weightloss...
People have lost weight on twinkies and mcdonalds only.

It's calories and the amount you physically use up that ultimately matters. - +1 y
Obviously excess eating and lack of exercise cause weight gain.
Unhealthy foods tend to be more calorie-inducing, no? And do you really think people whose diets consist solely of unhealthy foods are going to go to the gym to burn off those extra calories they’ve taken in? - +1 y
"Unhealthy foods tend to be more calorie-inducing, no?"
Yeah, they are very calorie dense. ... Yes, they are VERY widely available. But I want to believe that human will is not that easy to distort.
The fallacy happens when you equate the healthiness of the food to weight. Too many people believe eating healthy leads to weight loss. That isn't the case. It is very possible to eat too much salad and gain weight.

I think its because people have become addicted to pleasure and companies are becoming more creative in how they use artificial substances to enhance flavour. Try eating nothing except healthy food for one year - and you will slim down but healthy food is so expensive these days.

+1 yWell that might help but I also think it has to do with the fact that most adults work now in a marriage so there is less time to cook resulting in desperate parents feeding their kids fast food or prepackaged bullshit
ak-hdl.buzzfed.com/.../...z-2635-1381917341-10.gif10 ReplyI do think that fat-acceptance is the worst sinner here. "Be proud of who you are - don't be afraid to show yourself" etc. etc. Oh and live an unhealthy self-destructive (shorter) life. #NoDisrespectToFatPeople

Correct
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIt's because people are addicted to sugar, sugar is the most addictive substance known to man and it's in absolutely everything we eat and drink. Even children's milk that they get in schools is full of sugar. So from a young age American children are indoctrinated to accept large quantities of sugar in their diets and once the addiction to sugar starts it's very difficult to stop consuming large quantities of sugar.
Free sugars need to be removed from a vast majority of perishable food products because that's the number one cause of obesity along with a lack of exercise.01 Reply- +1 y
it's true too!! my uncle decided to go on a NO SUGAR diet because he's a health nut and he could eat almost nothing. he said it was worse than his gluten free diet!! amazing! and it's disgusting to find out that Coke actually adds flavoring to their pop to mask the TONS of sugar they out in it because apparently there is so much that if we could taste it, Coke wouldn't taste good. wow!
It's the acceptance of fat people, the price of healthy food, and how hard it is to find unprocessed food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg more than precessed food after a year
10 Reply374 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. i think it's the opposite, actually. I think people have become more accepting of fat people because obesity has hit an all time high, not the other way around..

@AbbyKay And pizza is a vegetable.. (That the tomato sauce in pizza is enough to fulfill vegetable requirements)

It's vastly more complicated than that. Major factors include availability of healthy food, attitudes towards cooking, the nature of modern jobs, and the way children seek entertainment.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt's because healthy stuff costs $10 and the not so healthy stuff is so much cheaper. So everyone takes the cheaper option. I blame McDonald's.

expensive, I can get beans , beef and rice with tea or soy milk for 3.99 :) or jerk chicken on rice for 3.99. Healthy food is more expensive my ass.
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt's because you get fat whatever you eat with all the fat and sugar in processed food.
