not really. i mean you can literally walk a mile in 10 minutes... 8 minutes isn't that much better. i saw you said you want to run a 4-6 minute mile. a 4 minute mile for a girl at this point is impossible. an elite male runner can run a high sub 4. most elite high school runners run about a 4:10-4:20. running a 5 minute mile at your age (or even in college) will get you a full ride. the average girl, especially a non athletic 1 like yourself should probably strive for something realistic like a 7 minute mile. 6 if you're really ambitious.
*most elite high school guys run a 4:10+. most high school girls who run track will get a mid 5 minute mile.
And by 4-6 mins I mean I want to run under 6 mins and strive for 4.
you can strive to 4, but you aren't going to get anywhere close. and i was a nationally ranked sprinter and jumper 4 years ago. i can barely run a 400 under 1 minute right now.

"Good" is relative. What is your goal? it's a lot faster than a lot of people run.

It's my goal to have 4-6 mins. I want under 6 mins for sure. I don't think I can achieve 4 mins but I must strive for greatness! Lol the next time I run I'm going to aim for 7:30-8 mins. I think I used to get around 8 mins on average but I never pushed myself.

Well dropping 2 minutes from your first time in only 2 days is quite drastic... Are you sure you timed yourself right? also for someone just starting out 8:33 is pretty good. Someone who is really fast will have a PR around 7 minutes, that is for girls. If you want to get better try adding to your daily milage but do it subtly.

well, I'm no athletic expert, but I run a mile in about 7.5 minutes. I'm 95 pounds and 5'6. I run a lot.

My friend who is number one on my cross country varsity team (keep in mind I go to a small school though) could run like 7:20-ish I believe... I was recovering from an injury so I wasn't doing as well. It's hard to say though because we run 3.1 miles & the split times can be different

If you are running something cross country or longer distances, then you need to be able to sustain that for a longer time, like for 3 miles
No. I think I'm just going to run the mile for track. Cross country isn't really my thing.

If your stride is short, you take many more steps per mile and it costs you energy.
Long stride = less steps and less energy.
Eat carbs, not protein the night before.. Lots of pasta in sauce.
